Job summary

Charles Schwab is seeking a Software Developer for Treasury business applications within Corporate Systems. You will collaborate with business partners to enhance and maintain internal solutions for Capital Markets and Market Risk.

The role emphasizes translating technical and business needs into reliable software. The position requires full stack development with Java, REST services, and JSON/XML, strong SQL knowledge, and agile practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field OR equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in full stack development using Java, REST, JSON/XML.
  • Strong fundamentals in relational databases (MS SQL Server, Oracle).
  • Experience in an Agile development environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, prioritization, organization, and influencing skills.
  • Team player with collaborative attitude and willingness to listen.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise on critical enhancement and maintenance development endeavors.
  • Engage with BSAs, Product Owners, Developers, QA, and Management.
  • Build and maintain relationships with team members and stakeholders.
  • Aid in delivering technical strategies, solutions, and end-user services.
  • Solve problems and provide support, taking responsibility to make decisions when appropriate.
  • Take on diverse projects and tasks.
  • Communicate technically and non-technically to all staff levels.
  • Understand applications from technical and business perspectives.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment and lead by example.

The Corporate Systems team in Charles Schwab’s IT organization is looking for a motivated Software Developer for our Treasury business applications. Working closely with our business partners, you will assist with the enhancement and maintenance of Schwab internal solutions for the Capital Markets and Market Risk business areas.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical expertise on critical enhancement and maintenance development endeavors
  • Engage with variety of staff: BSAs, Product Owners, Developers, QA, Management

What you have
Required Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, related degree, OR related practical experience
  • Passion for and experience in full stack application development technologies using Java, REST Web Services and JSON/XML.
  • Strong fundamentals in relational databases (MS SQL Server, Oracle, etc.)
  • Experience in an Agile development environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, prioritization, organization, and influencing skills
  • Team player with strong collaborative qualities and a positive demeanor
  • Ability to listen and encourage thoughts, opinions and discussions where needed
Preferred Skills
  • Familiarity with the Spring toolset, such as Spring Cloud Data Flow, Spring Boot, etc.
  • CI/CD exposure, including Bitbucket/Bamboo automated build/deploy solutions
  • Exposure to testing methodologies, including unit testing, TDD/BDD, and automation
  • Familiarity with test automation tools, such as Cucumber, Specflow, Mabl etc.
  • Experience with cloud-ready platforms such Pivotal Cloud Foundry, GCP, AWS, or Azure
  • Familiarity with the financial services domain or a strong desire to learn about the industry
