Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Java Developer to join our team in New York. The role focuses on building robust backend services with Java 17+, Spring/Hibernate, and RESTful APIs, while also delivering frontend functionality with Angular and TypeScript.

Strong database experience with Oracle and Postgres is expected, alongside familiarity with Tomcat and Maven. The candidate will collaborate with onsite teams, analyze customer requirements, and drive feature improvements.

Qualifications

• Proficient Java backend development and RESTful API design.
• Experience with Angular frontend and TypeScript.
• Strong database skills with Oracle 19c and Postgres.
• Exposure to server-side Java frameworks and build tools.

Responsibilities

• Analyze customer requirements and provide recommendations to the product consultant.
• Coordinate with onsite teams for requirements gathering and clarifications.
• Identify value adds and improve existing features to address recurring issues.
• Perform daytime and high-priority tasks within SLA.
• Create unit tests and perform testing of complex components.
• Review unit tests and assist in testing strategy and UAT support.
• Contribute ideas for project improvements and document best practices.

Technical Skills

• Java Developer 5 Years Experience
• Backend Java17 above Spring Framework 5 Hibernate 5 RESTful API development

Responsibilities

• Provide support to the product consultant through analysing customer requirements and provide recommendations through interactions with the customer
• Coordinate with onsite team or clients for requirements gathering or functional clarifications
• Identify value adds example enhance existing features which can address repeated issues during implementation
• Perform daytime and high priority tasks as requested by business within SLA

Testing

• Create unit test cases and perform unit testing including complex components
• Review unit test cases as created by Product Specialist and Product Analyst
• Assist the testing team by reviewing test strategy document when required
• Provide UAT and implementation support
• Drive clarifications or defect resolution to ensure timely deployment

Innovation

• Contribute ideas areas requiring improvements based on project implementation team feedback etc
• Identify best practices related to the project or product & document the same

Salary and Other Compensation

• The annual salary for this position is between $130-150K depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
• This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
