Job summary

You will work with a product engineering team and mentor peers while delivering robust REST APIs and microservices. Ideal candidates have 7+ years of Java experience, strong Java 11/17+ skills, Spring Boot, SQL proficiency, and a disciplined approach to reviewing AI-generated code for security and quality.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of Java/backend development experience.
• Strong hands-on Java (11/17+) and Spring Framework knowledge.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Solid OO design, patterns, and clean-code practices.
• Proficient SQL with relational databases and testing (JUnit/Mockito).
• Git, CI/CD pipelines, and production debugging expertise.
• Experience using AI coding assistants with disciplined code review.
• Understanding API security, auth, error handling, and resilience.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a Java Backend Developer to join a product engineering team. The engineer will design and build backend services and APIs using modern Java technologies and AI-assisted development practices.

The role requires strong hands‑on engineering skills and the ability to use AI coding assistants effectively for development, testing, debugging, documentation, and code modernization without compromising engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build and maintain REST APIs and microservices.
• Translate product requirements into technical designs and working software.
• Use AI-assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot or equivalent, as part of day‑to‑day engineering.
• Apply AI assistance for:
• Code generation and refactoring
• Unit and integration test generation
• Code comprehension and documentation
• Debugging and root‑cause analysis
• API development and boilerplate reduction
• Legacy code analysis and modernization
• Review and validate AI-generated code for correctness, security, maintainability, and performance.
• Develop automated unit and integration tests.
• Integrate applications with APIs, databases, and messaging platforms.
• Participate in architecture, design, backlog refinement, and code reviews.
• Troubleshoot application, integration, and production issues.
• Mentor engineers on Java engineering and effective AI‑assisted development practices.
• Own features from technical design through production deployment.
