You will be a core technical contributor, leading an agile team of six, delivering secure, scalable technology while applying AI-assisted development tools and advancing CI/CD. Your role covers design, coding in Java/Spring, microservices, cloud, data stores, and collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts.
• 5+ years of applied software engineering experience.
• 8+ years in Java/Spring and microservices in a cloud environment.
• Experience with microservices, RESTful APIs, and databases.
• Proficient in data streaming and messaging (Kafka, Spark).
• Understanding of containers (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong stakeholder management and executive communication.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools.

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer & Community Banking Deposits platform, youare an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Job responsibilities

• Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
• Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
• Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
• Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
• Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
• Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect
• Performs heavy coding utilizing Java, Spring, Microservices/RESTful API, relational databases and Cloud services
• Leads Agile team of 6 as an active developer and contributor by solving and implementing difficult technology challenges for successful team delivery
• Expand unit testing automation suite capabilities by integrating tests into CI/CD pipeline; ensuring 100% documentation & unit testing of all code delivered
• Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity across complex deliverables (e.g., code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, documentation), while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards; contributes learnings and reusable patterns to improve broader team effectiveness
• Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience
• Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• 8+ years hands on experience usingJava, Spring based technologiesand event based microservicesin a Cloud environment (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.)
• Strong experience with micro services/RESTful API, relational/NoSQL databases, data modeling and data ingestion frameworks
• Hands-on experience with data streaming and messaging frameworks (Kafka, Spark, etc.)
• Understanding of containers (Dockers, Kubernetes, Helm, etc.)
• Influencing & stakeholder management: Aligns roadmaps; secures cross-functional buy-in with data and clear trade-offs
• Executive communication: Frames complex tech and risk as business impact with clear options
• Mentoring: Coaches engineers; builds quality, psychological safety, and continuous improvement
• Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, test creation, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• AWS certification.
• In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
