Job summary

Johnson County Community College is seeking a part-time Japanese Tutor to support students through various tutoring modalities and content-specific study skills.

Position involves assisting with center resources, workshops, and coordinating with Academic Resource Center staff. Prior tutoring experience and native or near-native Japanese proficiency are required; the role is on-site with a flexible but limited weekly schedule.

Qualifications

• A degree in Japanese language or a related field.
• Experience teaching or tutoring in high school or higher education.
• Native or near-native proficiency in Japanese.

Responsibilities

• Tutor students through drop-in, by-appointment, and group tutoring in specific subjects and study skills.
• Assist with center projects and maintain resources (textbooks, models, guides) and workshops.
• Refer students to campus resources and maintain FERPA-compliant records.
• Assist in hiring/training new tutors and participate in mandatory center training.
• Cover front desk duties, check-in/out, and troubleshoot LMS/software/hardware issues.
• Use scheduling system to manage tutoring schedules and help plan events.
