Job summary

FirstService Residential is seeking a Janitorial Technician to keep buildings, facilities and restrooms clean and orderly. Responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, washing walls and glass, cleaning showers/restrooms and removing rubbish to maintain a high standard of cleanliness across common areas.

This role requires at least one year of janitorial or custodial experience, a High School Diploma or GED, and a valid California Driver’s License.

  • Ability to follow oral and written directions, maintain logs/journals, and perform administrative operational functions.

Responsibilities

  • Clean floors (sweep, mop, scrub, vacuum) according to schedule.
  • Empty trash daily and per schedule.
  • Maintain and supply restrooms daily and per schedule.
  • Clean and polish furniture, fixtures, windows, and mirrors.
  • Dust surfaces and equipment; clean carpets as needed.
  • Prepare cleaning solutions per specifications; setup and remove decorations for events.

Description

The Janitorial Technician is responsible for keeping buildings, facilities and restrooms in a clean and orderly condition. Perform cleaning duties such as floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, cleaning showers / restrooms and removing rubbish is imperative.

Duties may include performing routine maintenance activities, notifying management of needs for repairs and cleaning debris from common areas. Maintaining a good relationship with the residents, which leads to a positive work environment.

Compensation

$18.50-20.00/hr

FirstService Residential will compensate the successful candidate in accordance with the posted range. The salary or wage paid to the successful candidate will be commensurate with experience, education, and specific job responsibilities. For positions designated at a client's property, the salary or wage will also be premised upon the client's directive. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Hours

Thursday - Monday 6:00AM-2:30PM (hours subject to change to accommodate business needs)

Job Responsibilities

  • Cleaning floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing or vacuuming them per the prescribed schedule.
  • Gather and empty trash daily and per schedule.
  • Service, clean, and supply restrooms daily and per the schedule.
  • Clean and polish furniture fixtures.
  • Clean low level windows, glass partitions and mirrors.
  • Dust furniture, walls, machines and equipment.
  • Mix water and detergent in containers to prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications.
  • Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
  • Steam clean or shampoo carpets as needed or per schedule.
  • Strip, seal, finish and polish floors as required.
  • Notify General Manager/AGM concerning the need or major repair or additions in the common area and file appropriate work order.
  • Complete appropriate requisition for supplies and equipment as needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
  • Setup, arrange and remove decorations, tables, chairs, to prepare facilities for events such as board meetings.
  • Attend maintenance cart in common areas at all times. Please store cart out of site while on breaks.
  • Ensure all safety precautions are followed while performing work.
  • Be courteous and pleasant to residents at all times.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Skills & Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • An ability to follow oral and written directions, keep accurate records, fill out logs and journals, and perform administrative operational functions.
Education & Experience
  • One year of experience of janitorial or custodial work.
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Possession of valid California Driver’s License and state mandated vehicle insurance.

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Work is performed in a variety of environmental conditions, with exposure to outdoor temperatures, weather variations, traffic and equipment noise, equipment vibrations, vehicle and/or chemical fumes, chemicals such as cleaning solvents and grease, machinery and their moving parts and dust.
  • Must be able to move, bend, stoop, push/pull as appropriate for this physical job.
  • Must have finger dexterity.
  • Must be able to drive throughout the Community and run errands outside the community if requested.
  • Work duties may require the ability to stand or walk on hard surfaces for frequent and prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to respond to requests and communicate to staff, coworkers, clients, and vendors.
  • Consistent and regular attendance required.
  • Some exposure to dust and noise.
  • Some heavy lifting, standing, climbing.

Hours over and above normal office hours will occur, including evenings, holidays, and some weekends. Schedule is subject to change based on business needs.

Tools & Equipment Used
  • Valid California State Driver’s License and state mandated insurance.
  • Tools common to the janitorial industry.
