Job summary

International School of Indiana, Inc. is seeking a dependable janitor to maintain clean, safe, and welcoming spaces for students and staff. You will operate cleaning carts, sanitizing restrooms, classrooms, kitchens, and dining areas, and report safety concerns.

Typical hours Monday through Friday, with a schedule that supports school activities. Prior housekeeping experience is helpful; the role requires physical stamina and the ability to work independently while keeping areas orderly.

Qualifications

• Detail-oriented and thorough.
• Ability to interact with staff, students, parents, and visitors at school while remaining professional, polite, and courteous.
• Ability to remain discreet and respect the privacy of students, faculty, staff, and guests.
• Sufficient ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English to complete work efficiently, effectively, and courteously.
• 6 months’ housekeeping experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs general cleaning and sanitizing tasks and services throughout assigned buildings.
• Uses a cleaning cart to transport cleaning supplies.
• Cleans and disinfects restrooms, classrooms, kitchens, and dining areas.
• Sweeps and dusts rooms and hallways.
• Washes furniture, floors, windows, and walls.
• Scrubs and waxes floor and shampoos carpets.
• Picks up litter and trash.
• Maintains and cares for assigned work equipment and work areas.
• Loads or unloads supplies and equipment and moves furniture, as required.
• Wipes and dusts surfaces in rooms and cleans mirrors.
• Vacuum and clean floors, rugs, furniture, and drapes.
• Picks up and empties trash containers.
• Maintains a neat and orderly janitor's room; ensures cleaning and maintenance supplies are stocked.
• Washes windows.

• Wipes and dusts surfaces in rooms and cleans mirrors.
• Vacuum and clean floors, rugs, furniture, and drapes.

• Maintains a neat and orderly janitor's room; ensures cleaning and maintenance supplies are stocked.
• Washes windows.
• Assists in examining school for safety hazards; reports deficiencies to supervisor, Senior Director of IT & Operations, or principal.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
