Job summary

Harvard Maintenance, Inc. is seeking a Janitorial Floor Tech to clean and restore all floor surfaces at our Detroit site. The role requires operating specialized floor care equipment, applying industry best practices, and maintaining a safe, clean environment.

The position offers a full-time schedule, Monday–Friday evenings, with a competitive salary and benefits package. Prior floor care or janitorial experience is a plus, and the company values training and safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Experience in floor care or janitorial is a plus
• Knowledge of floor care techniques for various surfaces
• Familiarity with operating floor care equipment
• Understanding of cleaning chemicals and safe usage practices

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality service and professionalism, upholding the standards and integrity of the Environmental Services Department.
• Clean, maintain, and care for a variety of floor types, including tile, carpet, and brick.
• Complete assigned tasks efficiently and on schedule.
• Follow established procedures for the correct use of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
• Operate, maintain, and care for floor cleaning equipment safely and properly.
• Consistently observe safety protocols, including the use of "wet floor" signs and other precautions.
• Work independently with minimal supervision.
• Promptly report any safety hazards or concerns.

A day in the life:

Under general direction, the Janitorial Floor Tech will be responsible for the cleaning, maintenance, and restoration of all carpeted and hard surface floors throughout the facility. This role requires expertise in using specialized floor care equipment, applying industry best practices, and ensuring a clean and safe environment.
