Job summary

Harvard Maintenance in Detroit is seeking a dedicated floor care/janitorial worker to join our Environmental Services team. You will clean, maintain, and care for various floor types and operate floor care equipment safely, following all safety procedures.

High school diploma preferred; previous cleaning experience is a plus. The role offers a competitive hourly rate, benefits, and a Monday–Friday 5:00 PM–10:00 PM schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in floor care, janitorial, or commercial cleaning is a plus.
• Knowledge of floor care techniques for various surfaces.
• Familiarity with operating and maintaining floor care equipment.
• Understanding of cleaning chemicals and safe usage practices.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality service and professionalism, upholding the standards and integrity of the Environmental Services Department.
• Clean, maintain, and care for a variety of floor types, including tile, carpet, and brick.
• Complete assigned tasks efficiently and on schedule.
• Follow established procedures for the correct use of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
• Operate, maintain, and care for floor cleaning equipment safely and properly.
• Consistently observe safety protocols, including the use of 'wet floor' signs and other precautions.
• Work independently with minimal supervision.
• Promptly report any safety hazards or concerns.
