Job summary

Kalitta Air in United States (Michigan) is seeking a reliable Janitor to maintain clean, safe facilities. You will sweep, mop, vacuum floors, launder rags, service restrooms, dust surfaces, and prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications.

You may also assist with event setup and other cleaning tasks as needed. Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or GED, can lift up to 50 pounds, and are able to work overtime or weekends.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Janitor

Reports To: Ground Power Supervisor

Internal applicants must submit an Employee Internal Application form. A signature from your current manager is required to be considered for position.

POSITION PURPOSE

Keep buildings and grounds in a clean and orderly fashion.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• 1. Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing or vacuuming.
• 2. Gather and empty trash and take all trash to appropriate dumpsters.
• 3. Launder rags.
• 4. Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
• 5. Clean windows, dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
• 6. Mix water and detergents in appropriate containers to prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications.
• 7. Steam clean or shampoo carpets, strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
• 8. Drive vehicles to required locations to perform cleaning duties.
• 9. Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment in order to prevent damage to floors, building walls, and grounds.
• 10. Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies either manually or by using hand trucks.
• 11. Notify managers concerning the need for equipment and building repairs.
• 12. Remove snow and ice from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas using tractor plow, snow blowers, snow shovels, ice chippers, and spread snow melting chemicals.
• 13. Set up, arrange and remove decorations, tables, chairs and ladders to prepare facilities for events such as meetings and other work events.
• 14. Other duties as assigned by the Janitor Lead.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Must have high school diploma or GED.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, write and understand written English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to give a verbal and written direction to assigned staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

The candidate must be able to work overtime and/or weekends within reason.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Employees will perform duties in a maintenance setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
