Position Summary
Our janitors/custodians enjoy the opportunity to have a variety of full facility tasks including the production floor as well as our office complex. They split the sections up and rotate the area of responsibility to ensure an opportunity to perform a new task routinely.
General Duties
- Use janitorial checklist to ensure all assigned areas are cleaned, disinfected, and sanitized.
- Performs regular, scheduled, and directed floor and stairs maintenance by using manual tools and equipment or operating powered floor machines to sweep, vacuum, and mop floors and stairs, and strip and wax floors according to prescribed guidelines or specific directions.
- Performs regular, scheduled, and directed carpet and upholstery maintenance by using manual tools and equipment or operating powered carpet extractors, shampooers, vacuums, backpack vacuums, and using upholstery tools according to prescribed guidelines or specific directions.
- Cleans building furnishings (which may require limited moving of those furnishings) within assigned area by dusting, washing, and/or polishing office furniture and equipment such as desks, chairs, tables, word processing cabinets, bookcases, file cabinets, end tables, lamps, handrails, heat and air conditioning registers, trophy cases, ash stands, and similar fixtures.
- Washes all interior and lower-level exterior glass, including windows, mirrors, and door glass by using pressure washers, foaming equipment, extension poles, ladders, glass cleaners, squeegees, and/or paper wipes according to prescribed guidelines or specific directions for use of the cleaners.
- Removes all trash from assigned areas by collecting trash from various trash containers and receptacles, trans porting the trash to designate (outside/inside) trash dumpsters, and emptying the trash into the dumpsters.
- Removes all recyclable materials from office areas by collecting the recyclable materials from the various labeled containers, transporting the recyclable materials to designated (outside/inside) recycling dumpsters, and emptying the recyclable materials into the dumpster, ensuring that the dumpster is locked when after dumping
- Uses cleaning chemicals properly and safely by wearing prescribed protective clothing, masks, and/or rubber gloves and boots, following either written or verbal directions for mixing chemical compounds according to specifications, applying the cleaning chemicals properly on surfaces or items designated for their use, and disposing of residual chemical products as directed or storing and labeling them for future use.
- Performs routine maintenance of custodial equipment such as belt or bag replacement, emptying collection receptacles or bags, and cleaning and providing proper storage of equipment. Cleaning filters or replacing filters.
- Contributes to the overall success of the assigned department by performing other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Performing last-minute requests or extra requests.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions or areas that need repair or maintenance
- Reports safety hazards and repair needs to appropriate personnel for the purpose of ensuring safe facilities.
- Paint lines, restrooms, or break rooms
Requirements
- 1-2 years of janitorial experience
- Must be able to do physical work and operate power equipment normally found in janitorial operations, such as floor scrubber, vacuum cleaner, or polisher. Including plant sweepers and water extractors.
- Must be able to bend, twist, squat, lift 20 lbs. - 45 lbs. and be on feet the entire shift.
- Ability to follow schedules and keep commitments.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to demonstrate professionalism.
- Must be able to manage time efficiently.
- Work individually as well as within a team.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
Working Conditions
Manufacturing Environment:
- Standing and walking for extended periods of time
- Wearing appropriate PPE and following safety procedures
- May require lifting, pushing, pulling of objects.
- Varying temperatures, depending upon season and machining

Working Time:
- 9:00am - 6:00pm (Monday -Thursday) and Friday 8:00am - 2:00pm
- Position may require overtime work as required
