YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas is seeking a part-time janitor to maintain a clean, safe, and attractive facility for members. You will sweep, mop, dust, and clean daily, restock supplies, and report issues to ensure peak operation.
Must have basic maintenance knowledge and be able to read labels and MSDS sheets. Morning, evening, and weekend hours are available; prior housekeeping experience is preferred.
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Janitor will insure that the Facility is maintained, clean, safe, operational, and attractive to members satisfaction.
He/she will sweep, mop, dust, and clean the facility daily to meet members needs. Clean and maintain floors, carpets, walls, windows, tiled areas, showers, restrooms and other surfaces of facility. Ensure that supplies such as soap and paper towels are replaced regularly, and that waste is emptied. Performs all janitorial duties. Reports building problems. Maintains inventory of cleaning supplies. Utilize preventative maintenance and cleaning schedule for purpose of maintaining equipment and keeping facility in operational peak performance. Assists with YMCA special events as needed.
Six months or more experience in housekeeping work preferred. Knowledge of cleaning products and equipment. Basic knowledge of maintenance helpful. Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties. Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds. Ability to use equipment and chemicals in prescribed manner, including ability to read labels, MSDS information sheets, and instructions. Ability to identify and resolve potential safety and security problems. Ability to handle demanding individuals in a calm and courteous manner.
