Job Title: Janitor
Reports To: Equipment & Facilities Manager
Department: 226 Manufacturing
Classification: Non-Exempt, Full Time
JOB SUMMARY
To maintain a clean, safe, and orderly manufacturing facility by performing routine cleaning, sanitation, and minor maintenance tasks, ensuring compliance and safety standards.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILIITIES
- 1. Perform daily cleaning of production floors, work areas, restrooms, and common spaces, including mopping and dusting.
- 2. Sanitize high-touch surfaces, equipment, and storage areas to meet health and safety requirements.
- 3. Empty and dispose of trash and recycling in compliance with facility waste management policies.
- 4. Conduct routine inspections of the facility for cleanliness, safety hazards, and maintenance needs.
- 5. Perform minor maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, tightening fixtures, and basic plumbing fixes.
- 6. Maintain and operate janitorial equipment (e.g., floor buffers, mops) in good working order.
- 7. Keep outdoor areas (e.g., loading docks, walkways) clear of debris and snow if applicable.
- 8. Restock cleaning supplies and maintain inventory records.
- 9. Follow all safety regulations, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals.
- 10. Report major maintenance or safety issues to the supervisor immediately.
Requirements
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
- 1. Basic understanding of facility safety and environmental regulations.
- 2. Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced, manufacturing environment.
- 3. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- 4. Good physical stamina.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- 1. High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2. Prior janitorial or custodial experience preferred.
- 3. Experience in a manufacturing setting is a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- 1. Must be able to stand for extended periods, bend, stoop, and lift equipment.
- 2. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
