Position Summary

GENCO General Contractors of P.R. Corp. is seeking a reliable, responsible, and detail-orientedJanitor to support cleaning and sanitation operations at aU.S. Department of Veterans Affairs federal healthcare facility in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico.

The Janitor will be responsible for maintaining assigned areas in a clean, sanitary, orderly, and safe condition while following established cleaning procedures, safety requirements, and facility standards. The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism, dependability, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision as well as part of a team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning and janitorial services throughout assigned areas of the facility.
• Sweep, mop, scrub, and maintain floors using appropriate cleaning methods and equipment.
• Vacuum carpets, rugs, mats, and other designated areas.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, fixtures, and other surfaces.
• Clean windows, glass surfaces, mirrors, doors, and other assigned areas.
• Empty trash containers and properly dispose of waste in designated areas.
• Replenish restroom supplies and other janitorial products as needed.
• Maintain cleaning carts in an organized, clean, and properly stocked condition.
• Organize and maintain janitorial supply and storage areas.
• Use cleaning chemicals, tools, and equipment in accordance with established safety procedures.
• Complete basic janitorial documentation and reports, including cleaning inspections, inventory records, and other required documentation.
• Inspect assigned areas to ensure cleaning and sanitation standards have been met.
• Report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, maintenance issues, or other concerns to the appropriate Supervisor.
• Follow all applicable facility, company, safety, sanitation, and security procedures.
• Maintain a professional appearance and conduct while working in a federal healthcare environment.
• Perform other janitorial and cleaning-related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Previous experience in janitorial, housekeeping, custodial, or commercial cleaning services preferred.
• Knowledge of basic janitorial cleaning methods, tools, equipment, and supplies.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and established procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleaning and sanitation standards.
• Reliable, punctual, and responsible work habits.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to communicate professionally with supervisors, coworkers, facility personnel, and visitors.
• Must be able to successfully complete the requiredbackground and security screening for employment at a federal facility.
• Must be available to work flexible schedules, includingweekends and holidays, as required by the facility.
• Must be physically capable of lifting and carrying up to50 pounds.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and frequently bend, squat, kneel, reach, and perform other physical activities associated with janitorial work.
