Job summary

Merchants Building Maintenance is seeking a reliable janitor to maintain clean, sanitary environments across client sites in California. You will perform general cleaning, restroom sanitation, waste removal, and breakroom upkeep in accordance with our quality standards.

The role requires travel between designated sites, third shift hours, and a professional demeanor. Training is provided, and benefits include dental, vision, medical insurance and paid sick days.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial cleaning preferred.
• Ability to travel between sites.
• Must be reliable and punctual.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors.
• Dust and wipe surfaces, furniture, and fixtures.
• Clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces.
• Clean and sanitize toilets, sinks, and counters.
• Refill supplies (soap, paper towels, toilet paper).
• Empty trash and maintain odor control.
• Clean tables, countertops, and appliances (microwave, refrigerator).
• Follow safety procedures; report hazards or maintenance issues.

Job Details

The janitor is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, safe, and orderly environment. This includes routine cleaning, waste removal, and ensuring all assigned areas meet company and client standards.

General Cleaning Duties

• Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors
• Dust and wipe down surfaces, furniture, and fixtures
• Clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces.

Restroom Maintenance

• Clean and sanitize toilets, sinks, and counters.
• Refill supplies (soap, paper towels, toilet paper)
• Empty trash and maintain odor control.

Trash & Waste Removal

• Collect and dispose of trash from all designated areas
• Replace liners in trash receptacles
• Handle recycling according to guidelines.

Breakroom / Common Areas

• Clean tables, countertops, and appliances (microwave, refrigerator, sink)
• Maintain cleanliness and organization.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all company safety procedures and client guidelines.
• Use cleaning chemicals properly and safely.
• Report hazards, damages, or maintenance issues promptly.
• Reports to: Supervisor / Area Manager
• May be required to submit reports or photos of completed work.

Quality Standards

• Complete all assigned tasks per scope of work
• Maintain consistency and attention to detail
• Ensure all areas meet client expectations and inspection standards.
