Job summary

Universal Strategy Group Inc. is seeking a J4 MRD - Task Lead in Tampa, FL, to serve as a senior logistics lead planner and SME for SOF equipment and platforms.

You will coordinate maintenance programs and advise on lifecycle management and readiness across joint and multinational partners. The role requires extensive experience in strategic planning, military operations analysis, and using advanced logistics systems.

Qualifications

  • MA/MS in a discipline related to policy, analysis, or systems.
  • JPME II or equivalent military education or higher.
  • 10+ years in strategic and operational planning and analysis.
  • 5+ years' experience in CENTCOM AOR, MISO, MILDEC, CWMD, ORSA, CYBER, SNA, or related fields.
  • Total combination of SOF experience and education >= 15 years.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a senior logistics lead planner and SME.
  • Advise command on maintenance and sustainment for SOF equipment and platforms.
  • Oversee maintenance programs for ground and maritime SOF assets.
  • Develop and implement SOF-tailored maintenance policies.
  • Coordinate with partners to synchronize maintenance support and logistics.
  • Use GCSS-A, SSAVIE, Palantir, and Power BI to track readiness and inform decisions.
  • Provide lifecycle management and modernization recommendations.
  • Conduct readiness assessments and mitigate maintenance gaps.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
  • Support rapid deployment and sustainment of SOF units in austere environments.

Education

MA/MS in a discipline such as Social Sciences / Public Policy / Applied Statistics / Operations Research / Systems Analysis
Joint Professional Military Education Level II or equivalent
Advanced Military Education Levels (SAMS / JAWS / War Colleges)
15+ years SOF or related operational experience
10+ years strategic and operational planning and analysis
5+ years in CENTCOM AOR / related domains

J4 Maintenance and Readiness Logistics (MRD) – Directorate Task Lead

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a senior logistics lead planner and subject matter expert
  • Serve as senior technical advisor to command on all maintenance and sustainment operations for Special Operations Forces (SOF) equipment and platforms
  • Oversee and manage maintenance programs for ground and maritime SOF assets, ensuring maximum operational readiness
  • Develop and implement maintenance policies, procedures, and best practices tailored to SOF mission requirements
  • Coordinate with joint, interagency, and multinational partners to synchronize maintenance support and logistics integration
  • Utilize advanced logistics and maintenance management systems (e.g., GCSS-A, SSAVIE, Palantir, Power BI) to track readiness, analyze trends, and inform decision-making
  • Advise senior leadership on equipment lifecycle management, modernization initiatives, and resource allocation
  • Conduct readiness assessments and provide recommendations to mitigate risks and address maintenance shortfalls
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards in all maintenance operations
  • Support rapid deployment and sustainment of SOF units in austere and dynamic environments
  • Assist Operational Planning Teams to organize, focus and synchronize enterprise partners and enablers to meet defined organizational end states
  • Facilitate and support the Strategic Planning Process (SPP), employing a Systemic Operational Design and Military Decision-Making Process approach to conduct operating environment analysis, end states development, and to update and inform the planning process
  • Review and provide thorough analysis of operational war plans, orders, and standard operating procedures
  • Develop and present General Officer/Flag Officer level briefing products and presentations
  • Facilitate and support working groups, Community of Interest engagements, and plans synchronization across Combatant Commands, TSOCs, US Government partners, other Governmental Agencies, and key partner nations
  • Identify, analyze, and evaluate complex and highly sensitive systems, policies, and processes related to current and emergent foreign threats
  • Determine procedures for solving complex design, integration, and analytical problems
  • Report changes, trends, and implications regarding the design and integration of evolving systems and instrumentation
  • Coordinate with Geographic Combatant Command staff, military Service Components, and forward operating units to develop a comprehensive Concept of Logistics Support
  • Execute staff coordination support to reach the programmatic end-state and facilitate logistics sustainment continuity utilizing Knowledge Management (KM) fundamentals and Logistics Common Operational Picture (LOGCOP) technology
  • May perform task or site lead functions including: daily coordination with the COR/Technical Representative(s); operating the task management system; assisting in development of training efforts to meet client objectives; overseeing Operational Planning Team planners; and travel as required
  • Understand, manage, and implement the Life Cycle Replacement (LCR) process within the CENTCOM AOR for Special Operations-peculiar (SO-p) platforms and service common equipment, including DOTMLPF Change Requests (DCR), Basis of Issue Plans (BOIP), unit equipment authorizations, and other associated processes
  • Solicit, input, and maintain unit Readiness data and information within the Defense Readiness Reporting System – Secret (DRRS-S)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • MA/MS in one of these disciplines: Social Sciences, Public Policy, Applied Statistics, Operations Research, or Systems Analysis
  • Joint Professional Military Education Level II or Service Equivalent; Advanced Military Education Levels (i.e., School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS), Joint Advanced Warfighting School (JAWS); Service War Colleges)
  • At least 10 years strategic and operational planning and analysis
  • At least 5 years' experience in any of the following: CENTCOM AOR; Military Information Support Operations (MISO); Military Deception (MILDEC); Counter Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD); Operations Research and Systems Analysis (ORSA); CYBER; Antiterrorism and Force Protection (AT/FP); Social Network Analysis (SNA); Special Programs; Interagency Experience, Intelligence Experience
  • Equivalent combinations of at least 15 years of SOF operational experience and education
