Job summary

Northeast Georgia Health System is seeking an entry-level Pharmacy Technician under the supervision of a Staff Pharmacist to process and fill physician orders, assist patients across age groups, and follow regulatory guidelines. With an intern license, duties may include pharmacy intern tasks as permitted by the Georgia State Board of Pharmacy.

Minimum qualifications include Georgia Board of Pharmacy registration, a high school diploma or GED, and readiness to obtain required certifications

Qualifications

• Current registration with the Georgia Board of Pharmacy required.
• First attempt certification exam should be completed within six months of hire.
• Certification must be obtained by the third attempt or at 12 months of hire.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Preferred two or more years of hospital experience.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of problems by reporting and troubleshooting issues with vendors, hospital pharmacy staff, or other personnel to achieve desired outcomes.
• Work to ensure medication reaches the patient in the required time frame, often serving as a liaison between pharmacy and nursing.
• Follow phone etiquette to ensure effective communication.
• Follow department policies and procedures to minimize and detect any medication discrepancies.
• Utilize computer system to answer nursing questions about medication orders as appropriate.
• Prepare IV medications and fluids using aseptic techniques in specified units.
