Job summary

Polaris Pharmacy Services is seeking an IV Pharmacy Technician to work under a Registered Pharmacist, performing sterile compounding and prescription filling in a fast-paced environment.

You will support long-term and post-acute care facilities, entering data, and ensuring compliance with USP 797 and state regulations. This role requires 1+ year IV tech experience and a state license/certification.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent required.
Pharmacy technician licenses/certifications required by state regulations and state of practice.
Minimum of one year working as an IV pharmacy technician required (long-term care pharmacy preferred).
Knowledge of brand name/generic medications.
Experience working with medications, IVs, and filling prescriptions required.
Order entry and insurance billing experience required.

Responsibilities

Clean and maintain Sterile Compounding room and QA per USP 797 guidelines.
Fill prescriptions and prepare Sterile Compounding under supervision.
Stage, prep, and fill orders for long-term care facilities.
Compound Sterile Compounding orders in a Class 100 clean room as directed.
Data entry and basic record-keeping for the IV department.
Assist pharmacist with calling care facilities and patient communication.
Maintain pumps and related IV equipment; ensure calibration and safety.

Job Summary:

The IV Pharmacy Technician works under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist. Required duties are pursuant to specific Board of Pharmacy defined technician tasks, which may include, accurately filling prescriptions, preparing Sterile Compounding medications, entering computer data, following standard procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Clean and maintain Sterile Compounding room and QA as per USP 797 guidelines for a state law as directed by supervisor
Work under direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, fill prescriptions and prepare Sterile Compounding according to Polaris standards of quality, customer service, productivity guidelines, and State Board of Pharmacy regulations
Knowledge of Long Term and Post- Acute Care
Stage, Prep, and fill orders for residents at long-term care facilities and high-risk pregnant women
Compound Sterile Compounding orders in a Class 100 clean room as directed by Pharmacists, IV Supervisor, and/or Director of Pharmacy
Responsible for data entry
Assist pharmacist with calling care facilities
Maintain, clean and account for pumps
File, answer phones, and stock areas in the IV department as appropriate and directed by supervisor
Work with Lead IV Technician to maintain a clean/safe work environment, check equipment for calibration, safety, and cleanliness
Replenish and maintain Emergency Drug Kits (EDK) provided to Long Term and Post-Acute Care Facilities
Follow all applicable government regulations, including HIPAA
Communicate with Pharmacist, Supervisor, or Lead Technician about any concerns regarding USP 797 and Operations
Comply with departmental policies regarding safety, attendance, and dress code
Overtime, holidays, and weekends may be required and/or expected
Other duties as assigned; Job duties may vary depending on business needs

Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES:

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required

HOLIDAY & PTO POLICY

Paid holidays are provided annually, with 6 days offered each year, along with 5 sick days.

Please note, because we are a pharmacy most of our locations are open 24-hours a day, 7 days a week and therefore schedules may change as determined by the needs of the business.
