Job summary

Utah Department of Transportation is seeking an Electronic Technical Specialist II to perform installation and maintenance of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) field equipment in Salt Lake City. This entry-to-intermediate role requires hands-on work on video cameras, variable message signs, radar detection, ramp metering, and related ITS systems, including bucket truck operations.

The position includes on-call responsibilities, exposure to all weather, and collaboration with contractors

Qualifications

  • At least two years of electrical/electronics experience or related education.
  • IMSA I & II certifications or Journeyman Electrician License.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Knowledge of electronics, traffic signal tech and related systems.
  • Proficient with computers and systems.
  • Willing to work on-call and after hours.

Responsibilities

  • Repair, fabricate, and maintain ITS and related traffic/camera equipment.
  • Interpret instructions and work from blueprints or drawings.
  • Inspect facilities and equipment for safety and quality.
  • Install parts, hardware or software as needed.
  • Provide technical support within area of responsibility.
  • Troubleshoot and perform preventative maintenance on computers/equipment.
  • Respond to inquiries; coordinate with agencies and staff.
  • Maintain accurate records and logs.
