Job summary

ADNET Systems, Inc. seeks a Cloud/DevOps Engineer to maintain and advance the cloud-based data processing pipeline for the Space Weather Science Operations Center. The role focuses on robust, scalable, and secure cloud systems enabling continuous space weather data processing, with remote work allowed and Eastern Time coordination.

The position requires a B.S. degree and 3 years of relevant experience, with eligibility for NASA investigations. Local DC-area candidates are preferred.

Job description

We have an opening on NASA's Space and Earth Science Data Analysis (SESDA) contract for a Cloud/DevOps Engineer supporting the Space Weather Science Operations Center (SWSOC). The SWSOC supports active NASA science missions by providing a cloud-based open-source pipeline to process raw measurement into scientifically relevant data to be served to the public. This project requires ongoing cloud infrastructure maintenance and strategic development to support critical space weather monitoring, analysis, and forecasting operations.

This position will ensure robust, scalable, and secure cloud-based systems that enable continuous scientific operations and data processing capabilities. This a full-time position and open for remote work although local candidates (in the DC area) are preferred. Working hours are flexible based on Eastern Time schedules and participation in regular team meetings is expected. The labor category for this position requires a B.S. Degree and 3 years of relevant work experience – salary will be commensurate with experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Infrastructure Maintenance
  • Monitor and maintain existing cloud infrastructure components
  • Ensure system availability, performance, and reliability
  • Implement preventive maintenance schedules and procedures
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues
  • Manage system updates, patches, and security implementations
  • Design and implement scalable cloud architecture solutions
  • Develop infrastructure as code (IaC) templates and automation scripts
  • Create and maintain system architecture documentation
  • Establish cloud governance frameworks and best practices
  • Plan and execute infrastructure modernization initiatives
Operations Support
  • Provide technical support for space weather data processing systems
  • Optimize cloud resource utilization and cost management
  • Implement disaster recovery and business continuity solutions
  • Establish monitoring, logging, and alerting systems
  • Support integration with scientific computing and analysis tools
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Core Competencies
  • Cloud platform expertise (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM templates)
  • Containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • CI/CD pipeline development and management
  • Network architecture and security implementation
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Tier 1 or Tier 2 Investigation through NASA.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with scientific computing – especially in a Federal IT environment
  • High-performance computing (HPC) cloud implementations
  • Data pipeline and ETL process design
  • Compliance and security framework implementation
  • Experience with real-time data processing systems
