About The Company

Lumen is the trusted network for the AI-powered world, connecting people, data, and applications through an expansive fiber network and connected ecosystem. The company delivers secure, high-performance connectivity across cloud, edge, and AI workloads for enterprises, governments, and communities. By helping organizations connect quickly, securely, and effortlessly, Lumen enables them to move faster and prepare for what comes next.

At Lumen, employees work on infrastructure customers rely on every day while helping build the capabilities needed for an increasingly connected future. Performance, security, and resilience are central to the work. This is a high-accountability environment where bold ideas, collaboration, and ownership contribute to meaningful outcomes for customers, partners, and the industry.

About The Role

Lumen is seeking a hands-on Network Systems Integration Engineer to lead and contribute to complex system integration initiatives. In this highly technical role, you will work across multiple teams and independently support the full integration lifecycle, from solution design and analysis through testing, implementation, and validation. You will apply enterprise networking and network security expertise to help deliver dependable, optimized solutions aligned with customer and business needs.

The successful candidate is a self-starter who exercises sound technical judgment, takes accountability for results, and can make progress with minimal supervision. You will collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders, communicate recommendations clearly, and help ensure that integrated systems meet performance, security, and operational requirements.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates should have practical experience with enterprise-level networking and network security, along with the ability to assess technical requirements and recommend optimized solutions. You should be comfortable participating in design discussions and reviews, analyzing system interactions, and resolving integration challenges across a complex technical environment.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential, as is the ability to balance independent work with effective collaboration. Candidates should be able to organize work across multiple priorities, explain technical concepts to varied audiences, and document decisions, test outcomes, and implementation considerations. A proactive approach to identifying risks and improving solutions will be important to success in this role.

Responsibilities

Lead and participate in system integration activities across multiple teams and technical environments. Analyze requirements, assess existing systems, and contribute to integration designs that support reliable, secure, and high-performing network services. Review proposed designs, identify dependencies and potential risks, and recommend practical improvements based on technical needs and operational considerations.

Develop and execute test plans to verify system functionality, interoperability, performance, and security. Investigate issues, determine root causes, coordinate resolution, and validate corrective actions before and after implementation. Support implementation activities, monitor outcomes, and confirm that solutions meet agreed requirements.

Provide independent technical contributions throughout the integration lifecycle while keeping relevant stakeholders informed of progress, findings, and risks. Produce clear technical documentation, share knowledge with colleagues, and contribute to continuous improvement of integration practices. Apply enterprise networking and security expertise to recommend optimized solutions that support Lumen’s customers and evolving connectivity needs.

Benefits

Lumen offers the opportunity to work on critical connectivity infrastructure and contribute to technology that supports organizations and communities. Team members can take on meaningful technical challenges, collaborate with experienced colleagues, and develop their skills in networking, security, and systems integration. Eligible employees may have access to company benefit programs, which may include health and wellness coverage, retirement savings options, and other resources, subject to applicable plan terms and eligibility requirements.

Equal Opportunity

Lumen is committed to providing equal employment opportunities. Employment decisions are made without regard to protected characteristics under applicable law. We value diverse perspectives and strive to foster an inclusive workplace where employees can contribute, grow, and do their best work.
