Job Description:

The IT Systems Analyst is a senior-level information technologyposition responsible for the administration, integration, security,optimization, accessibility, and continuity of critical Universitysystems. The role oversees and supports the LMS, early-alert andstudent-success systems, databases, analytics platforms, cloud andSaaS applications, enterprise integrations, APIs, LTI technologies,automation, and digital accessibility solutions.

The position provides advanced expertise in systems administration,programming and scripting, database administration, data analytics,systems integration, technical troubleshooting, and technologyimplementation. It also supports curriculum development,instructional design, formal course review, Quality Mattersstandards, higher-education teaching, and faculty and stafftraining and professional development.

Working across technical and academic functions, the positionprovides advanced technical expertise and coordination for complextechnology initiatives and collaborates with faculty, staff,University leadership, technical teams, vendors, and externalpartners to maintain secure, reliable, accessible, integrated, andhighly available University services.

Purpose:

The IT Systems Analyst is a highly skilled technical and academictechnology professional responsible for the administration,integration, optimization, security, accessibility, and operationalcontinuity of critical University systems and services. Theposition has responsibility for complex academic technologyenvironments, including the Learning Management System (LMS),early-alert and student-success technologies, database andanalytics platforms, enterprise integrations, digital accessibilitytechnologies, cloud and SaaS applications, and relatedinfrastructure.

The position provides advanced technical expertise in systemsadministration, database technologies, data analytics, programmingand scripting, systems integration, automation, APIs and LTI,troubleshooting, and technology implementation. The position alsoapplies expertise in instructional design, curriculum development,course-quality review, Quality Matters standards, higher-educationinstruction, and professional development to support the effectiveuse of academic technologies.

The IT Systems Analyst works across technical and academicfunctions and collaborates with University leadership, faculty,staff, technical teams, vendors, and external partners to ensurethat critical systems are secure, reliable, accessible, integrated,and aligned with institutional priorities.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Administer, configure, maintain, monitor, optimize, and supportcritical enterprise academic systems, including the University LMS,early-alert systems, digital accessibility technologies, analyticsplatforms, databases, cloud applications, and relatedinfrastructure.
  • Provide advanced systems administration and technical expertiseto maintain highly available, secure, reliable, and resilienttechnology environments supporting academic and businessoperations.
  • Design, develop, maintain, and optimize enterprise systemsintegrations, data integrations, automation processes, APIs, LTIintegrations, and system interoperability across institutionalplatforms.
  • Perform advanced programming, scripting, query development, andtechnical automation using technologies such as SQL, Java, Python,and related tools to support systems operations, analytics,integrations, quality assurance, and institutionalrequirements.
  • Administer and support database and data-managementenvironments, including database design, configuration, security,performance, backup, recovery, and disaster-recovery activitiesusing technologies such as PostgreSQL, Snowflake, DbVisualizer, andDBeaver.
  • Develop and support institutional data analytics, data mining,data warehousing, reporting, and decision-support solutions,including the use of Power BI and related analyticstechnologies.
  • Administer and optimize LMS and early-alert technologiessupporting teaching, learning, student tracking, academicintervention, student success, and institutionaldecision-making.
  • Provide technical leadership for digital accessibilitytechnologies and practices, including the administration andeffective use of Anthology Ally and other accessibilitysolutions.
  • Coordinate complex academic technology projects and systemimplementations, including requirements analysis, technicalevaluation, configuration, testing, deployment, documentation,upgrades, and continuous improvement.
  • Investigate, diagnose, resolve, and document complex systems,application, integration, database, analytics, accessibility, andperformance issues, coordinating with vendors and technicalpartners when necessary.
  • Develop and maintain technical architecture documentation,system configurations, operational procedures, standards,guidelines, technical specifications, and continuitydocumentation.
  • Apply curriculum development and instructional design expertiseto academic technology initiatives, supporting the effectivedesign, development, evaluation, and improvement oftechnology-enhanced learning environments.
  • Conduct and support formal course-quality reviews, includingthe application of Quality Matters (QM) standards, course-qualityrubrics, instructional design principles, and digital accessibilityrequirements.
  • Develop and deliver faculty and staff training, technicaltraining, workshops, and professional development related toacademic technologies, LMS functionality, accessibility,instructional technology, and related systems.
  • Provide teaching and instructional expertise in highereducation to support the effective alignment of technology,pedagogy, curriculum, and institutional academic objectives.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend emerging technologies, systemenhancements, architectural improvements, and technologyinitiatives that support University academic and operationalpriorities.
  • Coordinate with faculty, staff, administrators, executiveleadership, technical teams, vendors, consultants, and externalpartners on enterprise academic technology initiatives andoperational requirements.
  • Serve as a technical consultant and subject-matter resource oncommittees, task forces, technology evaluations, implementations,and institutional initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, ora related field is required. An advanced degree in ComputerScience, Information Technology, or a related field, withhigher-education experience, is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience insystems administration, LMS administration, databaseadministration, early-alert systems, programming, systemsintegration, data analytics, academic technology, or related areasis required.
  • Relevant professional certifications in systems administration,databases, cloud technologies, LMS technologies, analytics, QualityMatters, instructional design or related areas are preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Advanced knowledge of enterprise systems administration,systems architecture, application administration, monitoring,security, backup, disaster recovery, and operationalcontinuity.
  • Proficiency with programming, scripting, and query languagessuch as SQL, Java, and Python.
  • Experience with enterprise systems integration, dataintegration, automation, APIs, LTI, and systeminteroperability.
  • Experience with database design, administration, management,security, backup, recovery, and related database technologies,including PostgreSQL, Snowflake, DbVisualizer, and DBeaver.
  • Experience with data mining, data warehousing, data analytics,reporting, and Power BI.
  • Experience administering LMS, early-alert, student-tracking, orrelated academic technology systems supporting institutionaldecision-making and student success.
  • Experience with SaaS, cloud technologies, enterpriseapplications, and content-management environments.
  • Experience with digital accessibility technologies andpractices, including Anthology Ally or comparable accessibilitytechnologies.
  • Experience in curriculum development, instructional design, andformal course review in higher education, including the applicationof Quality Matters (QM) standards and course-quality rubrics.
  • Teaching or instructional design experience in highereducation.
  • Experience developing and delivering faculty/staff training,technical training, and professional development.
  • Experience with organizational management, project management,prioritization, and coordination of complex technologyinitiatives.
  • Strong analytical, technical troubleshooting, problem-solving,decision-making, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex technical priorities andwork independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectivelyto technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff,administrators, executive leadership, technical teams, vendors, andexternal partners.
  • Leadership skills are preferred.
Certifications:

Relevant professional certifications in Quality Matters (QM), LMSadministration, database and cloud technologies, data analytics,systems administration, or related information technology areas arepreferred.

Conditions of Employment:

  • This position is considered essential and may be required toreport to the normal work location or an alternative locationduring a major catastrophic event, weather emergency, or otheroperational emergency to maintain the continuity of Universityservices.
  • The employee must be available as needed to communicate andcoordinate with systems, applications, and technology providers toresolve issues affecting continuity of University services.
  • The employee must be available to work some evenings andweekends.
  • The employee may be required to work during holidays,administrative leave days, and periods when the University is notin session.
