Job summary

EM Microelectronic-US Inc. in Colorado Springs is seeking a Linux system administrator to manage on-premises servers and workstations, oversee Linux installations, upgrades, and patches, and support remote users per IT policy.

The role includes Active Directory management, hardware upkeep (iDRAC), backup administration with Veeam, and coordination with SGIT and EM HQ IT for disaster recovery and tool support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or significant industry experience can be applied without a degree
• Desirable Certifications include CompTIA A+ / Network+ / Security+ and Linux-focused certs (LFCSA, LPIC-1/2, RHCSA)
• 5–10 years of professional IT experience maintaining, implementing, and modifying IT systems including hardware and software

Responsibilities

• Maintain Linux servers and workstations on premises (hardware, software, OS)
• Manage Dell PowerEdge servers and iDRAC tools
• Plan, coordinate, and execute Linux installations, upgrades and patching
• Create and support user accounts using MS Active Directory
• Provide help desk support for end-users, network/VPN connectivity, and app installations
• Monitor and resolve system performance issues
• Coordinate with SGIT for disaster recovery and continuity testing
• Administer backup solutions such as Veeam Backup & Replication
• Collaborate with EM HQ IT and Swatch Group IT as needed

Summary Job description Control all aspects related to Linux system administration in the Colorado Springs and Austin EM offices, including remote users/sites as applicable with adherence to Group IT policies. Support Windows users via Active Directory configuration.

Note: For this role, no remote or hybrid work model is possible ! The job is located in our offices in Colorado Springs

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Maintain Linux servers and workstations on premises including hardware, software, and operating systems (physical and virtual)
• Maintain Dell PowerEdge Servers and Dell hardware management tools (iDRAC)
• Plan, coordinate, and execute Linux systems installations, upgrades and maintenance (patching)
• Create and support user account setup using MS Active Directory
• Provide help desk support for end-users, account setup and maintenance. Debug issues (HW/SW), network/VPN connectivity, App installation and troubleshooting
• Monitor and resolve system performance issues
• Specify and order laptops for end users, simulation servers, peripherals, and supplies
• Install, configure, and deploy end-user HW, SW, printers, OS, applications, and patches
• Maintain software licensing, subscriptions, IT inventory, and documentation
• Maintenance of a variety of EDA tools, design kits, and support libraries in collaboration with EM HQ CAD and Linux support team
• Administer enterprise backup solutions such as Veeam Backup & Replication
• Coordinate with SGIT to ensure servers are properly integrated. Support SGIT with any disaster recovery/continuity testing
• Coordinate and collaborate with EM HQ IT and Swatch Group IT as needed
• IT budget, master plan, and project tracking
• New technology testing and implementation

Experience:

• 5-10 years of professional Information Technology experience maintaining, implementing, and modifying IT systems including hardware and software Essential:
• Experience with Microsoft technologies including Windows 10/11, Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2022, AD, GPO’s, IIS, RHEL 7/8/9 Server and Workstation, NFS

Desirable:

• Foreman, Ansible, LVM, Samba, Apache, PHP, Mysql/MariaDB, Perl, FlexLM, rsync, shell scripts, DHCP, DNS, PBIS, NoMachine, EDA tools, Synology appliances, Infoblox, Lansweeper
