  • Identify and track modifications needed to maintain and enhance installed hardware/software configurations.
  • Support the development or acquisition of system software tools for user ID and security-mechanism management.
  • Ensure planned and actual software/equipment installations align with network support office requirements.
Network Support
  • Analyze and define network requirements; help maintain network architecture and infrastructure.
  • Configure and optimize network servers, hubs, routers, and switches.
  • Monitor network capacity, performance, and workload; diagnose and resolve network problems.
  • Install, test, maintain, and upgrade network operating system software.
  • Track IP numbers and data-jack numbers for all networked hardware.
Customer & Help Desk Support
  • Respond to user questions; document and track reported issues in a problem-tracking database (ITSM).
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware/software problems for program staff and classroom facilitators.
  • Maintain an internal trouble-ticket log for all user-reported IT issues.
  • Facilitate user logins and assist with account administration and file-rights management.
  • Research recurring issues to identify trends and improve support processes.
  • Install and configure new IT systems within 2 workdays of receiving the hardware/software.
Security, Reporting & Administration
  • Apply information security/information assurance (IA) policies and practices to all services.
  • Establish and maintain an ITSM account and an Information Assurance Security Officer (IASO) account.
  • Provide the client's designated representative with weekly workload reports and a monthly printout of ITSM trouble tickets.
  • Attend required Information Management Officer (IMO) training and monthly IMO meetings as directed by the client.
  • Maintain accountability for any government-furnished property (GFP) issued for the role, including required inventories.
Required Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship (required for access to government networks).
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC), which requires a favorably adjudicated National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) or higher, and a valid state driver's license or state photo ID for facility access.
  • Ability to pass a National Crime Information Center Interstate Identification Index (NCIC III) background check.
  • Knowledge of computer network administration, LAN/data communications (protocols, architectures, and equipment), and network topologies.
  • Knowledge of computer security and information assurance principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of common microcomputer/minicomputer hardware, peripherals, and software.
  • Knowledge of configuration management principles and techniques, and data/process modeling methodology.
  • Ability to gather, analyze, and present facts; interpret and apply rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Strong customer-service skills, with the ability to work with tact and diplomacy in a public-facing role.
  • No conflicting off-day employment with a government position that would create an ethics conflict.
