Job summary

Materion Corporation is seeking an IT Support / OT Engineer to support and deliver OT/IT solutions across manufacturing shop-floor and enterprise environments. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience combining IT and OT engineering and project execution.
• Strong project support and leadership skills with ability to lead cross-functional teams.
• Experience in IT troubleshooting and support: Windows workstations/servers, networking, backup/restore, virtualization.

Responsibilities

• Lead OT/IT design, implementation and support of OT systems (SCADA/HMI, data acquisition, MQTT/OPC gateways).
• Support Windows/Linux endpoints, AD/Azure AD, IAM/MFA, patching, backup/restore, and virtualization.
• Triage incidents, coordinate with IT/OT teams, maintain detailed ticket documentation.
• Participate in change management, knowledge base upkeep, and on-call rotation.

Materion is seeking an IT Support / OT Engineer to support and deliver solutions across manufacturing shop-floor (OT) and enterprise (IT) environments.

Based in Delta, Utah, this role shares time between engineering and operational support, working hands‑on with industrial systems, IT infrastructure, and endpoints. The ideal candidate brings strong IT fundamentals and OT/IoT experience, is eager to learn, and thrives in a manufacturing location with high ownership and collaboration.

About the Role

You will partner with Infrastructure, Engineering, Maintenance, and Service Desk teams to build reliable, secure, and supportable OT/IT solutions. Expect a mix of planned project work (requirements, build/test, documentation) and support (incident response, troubleshooting, change execution). Occasional after‑hours work for maintenance windows and participation in an on‑call rotation are expected.

Engineering

• Lead design, implementation, support of OT systems (SCADA/HMI, data acquisition, OPC-UA/MQTT gateways), PLC network connectivity, and segmentation aligned to security standards. Contribute to reliability, data collection, and visibility across manufacturing cells.
• Continually improve OT systems reliability, performance, and functionality at your assigned sites.

Onsite Technical Support

• Support Windows/Linux endpoints and servers, Active Directory/Azure AD, IAM/MFA, patching, backup/restore, and basic virtualization.
• Perform hands‑on troubleshooting and support of IT/OT hardware.
• Interface with your peers and support/coach them on technical support needs.
• Collaborate with your peers and peer support teams live and via ticketing.

Incident/Operations Support

• Collaborate with IT/OT engineering teams to support systems and ensure the reliable integration of OT and IT networks.
• Respond to incidents and service requests, triage and resolve issues, elevate when needed, and maintain detailed ticket documentation.
• Participate in knowledge base upkeep, change management, and on‑call rotation.
• Contribute to root cause analysis and support incident response for system failures.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related field; equivalent military, apprenticeship, or industry experience considered.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience with a combination of IT and OT engineering and project execution.
• Strong project support and leadership skills, with a proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams.
• Demonstrated experience in IT troubleshooting and support, including:
  • Windows workstations/servers (Linux is a bonus)
  • Networking (TCP‑IP, DHCP, DNS, Firewalls)
  • Backup/Restore Data
  • Virtualization and Cloud technologies exposure/experience preferred
• Experience working with industrial or manufacturing technologies such as:
  • SCADA/MES
  • Sensors, Gateways
  • MQTT, OPC
