SPS North America is seeking an IT Support professional in the Chicago area to securely wipe data on drives using trusted tools and to ensure regulatory compliance. You will verify erasure, troubleshoot storage hardware, and manage inventory while disposing or repurposing wiped drives per policy.
Ideal candidates have IT support or data security experience, familiarity with sanitization tools, and a solid grasp of HDD/SSD/NVMe types and file systems, with strong documentation skills and security
IT Support is responsible for performing secure data wiping on hard drives using industry-standard tools (e.g., DBAN, Blancco, diskpart).
Ensure compliance with data security protocols and regulations.
Verify and document successful data erasure.
Troubleshoot and resolve basic hardware issues related to storage devices.
Properly dispose of or repurpose wiped drives per company policy.
Maintain accurate inventory of processed drives.
Experience in IT support, computer repair, or data security.
Familiarity with data sanitization tools and techniques.
Basic knowledge of hard drive types (HDD, SSD, NVMe) and file systems.
Ability to follow strict security protocols.
Ability to free up space on hard drive/improve performance and speed.
Keep track of inventory. Depose of E-Waste and track serial numbers
Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
Experience with disk cloning and imaging software.
High School Diploma required/College degree preferred
Must have some experience working with computers
Compensation: The expected compensation is an estimate, and the final offer will depend on skills, experience, location, and other job-related factors.
