Job summary

Base is seeking an IT Strategy Lead to build the proactive half of Base’s IT function. You’ll own software and AI spend analysis, implementation planning, and infrastructure planning across Base’s offices, warehouses, and factories, while governing data and aligning IT with executive strategy.

The role requires 8+ years in IT/strategy, with hands-on experience auditing spend, data governance, and communicating tech tradeoffs to executives. This is an in-person role at our offices.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in IT, technology strategy, or related field with planning experience.
• Experience auditing software and AI spend at scale and partnering with engineering leadership.
• Experience building a data governance program from scratch (inventory, ownership, policy).
• Comfort working directly with executives, translating technical tradeoffs into business decisions.
• Experience planning IT infrastructure across multiple physical sites (offices, warehouses, factories).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills across all levels of the organization.
• Exceptional organizational and planning abilities - top 1%.

Responsibilities

• Build and own Base’s software and AI spend program – inventory every tool and AI subscription, tie spend to usage and productivity, and work with engineering leadership to develop a management program.
• Plan software implementations – evaluate new platforms, run selection processes, and own rollout plans from pilot to company-wide adoption.
• Own infrastructure planning – turn Base’s growth plan into a rolling technology roadmap for new offices, warehouses, and factory sites.
• Partner closely with the IT Operations team to execute that roadmap on the ground.
• Organize and govern Base’s data – build the inventory, assign ownership, and write the policies that keep data usable and secure as Base scales.
• Serve as the business-level interface for IT by translating technical priorities into terms executives can act on, and translate business priorities into a technology plan.

About the Role

We are looking for an IT Strategy Lead to build the proactive half of Base’s IT function. IT Operations keeps today running; this role plans for what’s next across software, AI, data, and infrastructure. You’ll work alongside the owners of the IT Ops and Security functions.

You will own software and AI spend analysis, implementation planning, infrastructure planning across Base’s offices, warehouses, and factories, data organization and governance, IT policy development, and the business-level planning that connects IT to Base’s executive team. The right person thinks in roadmaps and quarters, but can also sit with a spreadsheet of tool subscriptions and figure out what to cut.

What You’ll Do

What You'll Bring

• 8+ years in IT, technology strategy, or a related field, with real planning experience

• Experience auditing software and AI spend at a company of scale and deep technical understanding to successfully partner with engineering leadership

• Experience building a data governance program from scratch to include inventory, ownership, and policy

• Comfort working directly with executives, translating technical tradeoffs into business decisions

• Experience planning IT infrastructure across multiple physical sites like offices, warehouses, or industrial facilities

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills across all levels of the organization

• Exceptional organizational and planning abilities - top 1%.
