Job summary

TEGNA seeks an experienced IT Specialist to support broadcast and business IT systems at our Beaumont operation. The role includes integration, maintenance, operation, and support of IT systems, with reporting to the Head of Technology, and collaboration across Technology, Operations, Sales and News teams.

You will troubleshoot hardware and software, manage Active Directory and network services, and help ensure security compliance.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science or IT or equivalent education and experience.
  • Solid understanding of computer hardware, network technologies, and Microsoft’s Active Directory environment.
  • Experience with Windows OS, Active Directory, Group Policy, Bomgar, and ServiceNow in a complex LAN/WAN environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support day to day operations of broadcast IT systems, software, and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair computer hardware, software and peripherals, including servers and network equipment.
  • Maintain knowledge of Windows OS, AD, Group Policy, Bomgar and ServiceNow in a complex LAN/WAN environment.
  • Ensure IT security compliance including patching and inventory management.
  • Collaborate with Technology, Operations, Sales, and News departments for effective tech support.
  • Be available for varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.

KBMT, the TEGNA-owned ABC and NBC affiliate in Beaumont, TX

has an immediate opening for an experienced, versatile IT Specialist. The position is responsible for the integration, maintenance, operation, and support of broadcast and business information technology systems and reports to the Head of Technology. The position will support broadcast-centric software and hardware as well as traditional desktop and file and print services.

Responsibilities
  • Support day to day operations of broadcast information technology systems, software, and equipment. Maintain, upgrade, and support broadcast Information Technology.
  • Troubleshoot and repair computer hardware, software and peripherals, including network servers, storage, network operating systems, PCs and PC applications, LAN cabling, system security and virus protection.
  • Have experience with or knowledge of Windows Operating Systems, Active Directory, Group Policy, Bomgar and Service Now Ticketing in a complex LAN and WAN computing environment.
  • Support network security, access rights, naming standards, scripts, and software upgrades.
  • Create and maintain wiring documentation, and system configuration documentation
  • Maintain knowledge and stay current on technological advances including computer software and hardware, media and entertainment technologies, and workstation products.
  • Willing to train in IT and Broadcast system operation and maintenance to service all aspects of the operation.
  • Responsible for IT security compliance including but not limited to disaster contingency, patching management for software and operating system (OS) updates, and IT equipment inventory administration.
  • Work closely with the Technology and Operations, Sales, and News departments and with corporate IT support
  • Effectively communicate the status of problems, provide updates to progress on projects, and offer solutions to technical issues
  • Be available to work various hours and days including weekends, overnights, and holidays.
  • Other duties as directed.
Requirements
  • Computer Science or IT related degree or equivalent education and experience
  • Solid understanding of current computer hardware, network technologies, and Microsoft’s Active Directory environment
  • Understanding of file-based multimedia technologies and video edit systems is a plus
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with non-technical end users
