Job summary

Zohorecruit is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead backend development on a state-of-the-art platform hosted on AWS. You will design scalable Java microservices, mentor peers, and drive features from concept to production in a hybrid Chicago environment.

The role demands 10+ years in software engineering, strong Java/Spring Boot expertise, and leadership within Agile teams. Hybrid work with in-office requirements a few days per week is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with 8+ years of relevant experience; Master’s with 6+ years also acceptable
• No degree? minimum 10+ years of relevant experience
• Strong expertise in Java 17+ and Spring Boot RESTful API development

Typicaltask breakdown

• As a Senior Software Engineer youwill be responsible for designing and developing backend RESTful API webservices using Microservices architecture.
• Be responsible for overseeing andmentoring other developers and handle code reviews.
• Acts as Team Leader for developmentand support groups; provides programming and application/technical leadership,guidance, and assistance to other team members.
• Works directly on complexapplication/technical problem identification and resolution.
• Drives application developmentfocused around delivering valuable business features.
• Maintains high standards of softwarequality within the team by establishing good practices and habits.
• Guide the team to develop astructured application/interface code, new program documentation, operationsdocumentation and user guides in a casual, flexible environment.
• Lead development of newfunctionality and applications on cross-functional Agile project teams.

Education& Experience Required

• Bachelor’s degree in computerscience or electrical engineering or related field is required w/ 8+ years’experience in this capacity is needed.
• Master’s degree with 6+ years’experience in capacity is needed.
• No degree, then they must have aminimum of 10+ years’ experience in this capacity.

• Datastores such as AWS Aurora, AWS RDS, AWSDynamoDB, PostgreSQL , MySQL, Oracle, ElasticSearch, MongoDB,Cassandra, Redis.
• Deploying software using CI/CD toolssuch as Azure Devops, Jenkins, GoCD, etc.
• Working within an Agile framework(ideally Scrum).

Provenexperience in many of the following

• Designing, developing, deploying andmaintaining software at scale.
• Developing software applicationsusing relational and NoSQL databases.
• Application architectural patterns,such as MVC, Microservices, Event-driven, etc.
• Deploying software using CI/CDtools, such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GoCD, etc
• Deploying and maintaining softwareusing public clouds such as AWS or Azure.
• Working within an Agile framework(ideally Scrum)
• Experience with AI tools is a BIGPLUS**

Strongunderstanding and/or experience in many of the following

• Message streaming solutions, such asAWS Kinesis, AWS SQS, AWS SNS, Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, Apache ActiveMQ.
• Hands on experience with API toolssuch as Swagger, Postman and Assertible o Test Driven Development and BehaviorDriven Development.
• Hands on experience with testingtools such as Cucumber and Selenium and their integration into CI/CD pipelines.
