Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking a Senior SDET / Test Automation Engineer in Chicago. The role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-grade test automation frameworks and automated suites. You will mentor peers and drive testing best practices in a hybrid, on-site environment.

Responsibilities include building CI/CD automation, API and end-to-end testing, and collaboration with Product Owners, Developers, and QA. In-person interview is mandatory.

Senior SDET / Test Automation Engineer

Location: Chicago, IL. Hybrid: 3 days onsite per week from Day 1, moving to 5 days onsite in future. 12‑month contract; no travel required. In‑person interview is mandatory.

Position Overview

• Senior SDET in a high-performing engineering team at Caterpillar.
• Focus on designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-level test automation frameworks.
• Ensure software quality, reliability, and performance for modern applications.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive testing best practices.

• Design, develop, and enhance Java-based test automation frameworks.
