Job summary

Clark Public Utilities in Vancouver, WA, seeks an IT Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, and optimize enterprise network infrastructure supporting critical business and OT services.

The role leads complex network projects, mentors engineers, and drives automation, security, and resilience in alignment with long‑term technology strategy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in IT/CS/Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience designing, implementing, troubleshooting, and supporting enterprise network infrastructure.
  • Experience with routing, switching, wireless networking, secure remote connectivity, and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Network automation, scripting, APIs, or IaC concepts preferred.
  • Industry certifications such as CCNP, Aruba, Juniper or equivalent desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, administer, optimize, and support enterprise network infrastructure.

Job description

What You Would Do
  • Design, implement, administer, optimize, and support enterprise network infrastructure that enables secure, reliable, and resilient business and operational technology services.
  • Lead the technical implementation of complex network infrastructure projects while collaborating with lead networking engineer, project managers, vendors, and business holders.
  • Design scalable, resilient, maintainable, and secure network solutions that align with established enterprise architecture, operational requirements, and long‑term technology strategy.
  • Analyze network performance, availability, capacity, reliability, and operational trends to identify opportunities for optimization, automation, resiliency, and continuous improvement.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement hardware, software, firmware, and lifecycle upgrades while minimizing operational impact and maintaining system availability.
  • Collaborate with Cybersecurity personnel to evaluate risk, implement security controls, remediate vulnerabilities, and improve the overall security and resilience of enterprise network infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, engineering standards, operational procedures, network diagrams, and configuration documentation supporting enterprise network operations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve automation, monitoring, observability, operational efficiency, and engineering processes through scripting, orchestration, and continuous improvement.
  • Mentor Network Engineers and other technical staff by sharing technical knowledge, reviewing engineering approaches, and promoting sound engineering practices.
  • Evaluate emerging networking technologies, vendor solutions, and industry best practices while providing technical recommendations supporting long‑term infrastructure planning.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the position. Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, troubleshooting, and supporting enterprise network infrastructure, including routing, switching, wireless networking, secure remote connectivity, and hybrid cloud environments. Experience with network automation, scripting, APIs, or Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts is preferred. Industry certifications such as CCNP, Aruba Certified Professional, Juniper Networks Certified Professional, or equivalent are desirable. Candidates must demonstrate strong analytical, communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills, the ability to manage competing priorities independently, mentor technical staff, and a commitment to continuous learning.

Salary

Employees are compensated within the established salary range. As skills, experience, and sustained performance grow, pay may progress within the range over time, with midpoint serving as a general reference point for employees who demonstrate full proficiency in the role.
