Job summary

Jacam Catalyst LLC is seeking an entry-level IT Security Analyst to monitor networks, systems, and logs for threats, respond to incidents, and support vulnerability and compliance efforts. This hands-on role is designed for someone early in their security career and grows under mentorship from senior IT staff.

You will work on monitoring, remediation, risk evaluation, and security training initiatives to build a solid security foundation within the team.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate's degree in IT, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Foundations: Networking, Windows/Linux OS, and general IT support concepts.
• Aptitude: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; attention to detail; willingness to learn.
• Communication: Clear written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor networks, servers, endpoints, and logs for suspicious activity.
• Escalate and assist in resolving security issues.
• Maintain and tune security tooling (SIEM, endpoint protection, email security).
• Respond to security alerts and incidents; assist with containment and remediation.
• Perform basic root-cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
• Document incidents and maintain response records.
• Run vulnerability scans and coordinate remediation efforts.
• Assist in coordinating periodic penetration tests.
• Evaluate systems for risk exposure and compliance with policies.

Job description

The IT Security Analyst (Entry-Level) helps protect the organization's networks, systems, and data by monitoring for threats, responding to security incidents, and supporting vulnerability and compliance efforts. This is a hands-on, entry-level role designed for someone early in their security career who will grow into broader security responsibilities under the guidance of senior IT and security staff.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor & Protect Systems

• Monitor networks, servers, endpoints, and logs for suspicious or anomalous activity.
• Escalate and assist in resolving security issues as they are identified.
• Help maintain and tune security tooling (SIEM, endpoint protection, email security).
• Respond to security alerts and incidents; assist with containment and remediation.
• Perform basic root-cause analysis to help prevent recurrence.
• Document incidents and maintain accurate response records.

Vulnerability Management

• Run vulnerability scans and help coordinate remediation efforts.
• Track weak points and follow up with system owners on patching.
• Assist in coordinating periodic penetration tests.
• Evaluate systems for risk exposure and help ensure compliance with current policies.
• Support internal audits and security reviews.
• Assist with security awareness training and user education efforts.

Qualifications

Required

• Education: Associate's degree in IT, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Foundations: Working knowledge of networking, operating systems (Windows/Linux), and general IT support concepts.
• Aptitude: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; attention to detail; willingness to learn.
• Communication: Clear written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred

• Certification: CompTIA Security+ (or actively pursuing); Network+ or CySA+ a plus.
• Tools: Familiarity with SIEM, endpoint protection, MFA/identity, or vulnerability scanning tools.

Growth Path

This role is a feeder into IT Security Analyst II and, over time, senior security or systems roles. The organization supports certification advancement (Security+, CySA+, etc.) and hands-on mentorship from senior IT staff.
