Job summary

Citi is seeking an IT Quality Senior Manager – Vice President to lead automation QA across Java, React, and Oracle backend environments. The role demands hands-on leadership, framework architecture, and end-to-end test strategy in a hybrid Citi setting.

The ideal candidate will architect scalable automation, mentor engineers, and drive quality metrics across multiple IT Quality teams, coordinating with global stakeholders. Hybrid work in Pune region is expected.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in Quality Assurance and Test Automation for complex enterprise apps built on Java, React, and Oracle.
• Proficient in Java for automation scripting and framework development.
• Deep UI automation with Selenium for React-based apps.
• Extensive API testing using RestAssured and Karate DSL for microservices.
• Proven experience with BDD using Cucumber.
• Experience designing performance tests with JMeter/LoadRunner.
• CI/CD integration in Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions.
• Cloud exposure on AWS/Azure/GCP.
• Strong SQL for Oracle DB validation.

The IT Quality Senior Manager accomplishes results through the management of professional team(s) and department(s). Integrates subject matter and industry expertise within a defined area. Requires basic commercial awareness. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers.

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Automation Quality Engineer with hands‑on experience in quality assurance and test automation, specifically within a Java‑based ecosystem, React UI, and Oracle backend. This role requires an engineer/ lead who can architect, implement, and optimise comprehensive automation strategies across these platforms, ensuring the delivery of high‑quality, robust, and scalable software test solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a good technical understanding of test automation frameworks, Core Java programming, CI/CD pipelines, and basic cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Leadership & Communication: Strong leadership qualities, with proven experience mentoring engineers and fostering a collaborative team environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Framework Architecture & Development: Design, build, and maintain scalable, robust, and efficient test automation frameworks for functional, regression, and security testing, covering React UIs, Java APIs, and Oracle backend services.
• Hands‑on Test Automation: Lead by example, actively writing, executing, and maintaining complex automated test scripts primarily using Java, leveraging industry‑standard tools for UI, API, and database testing.
• Performance & Security Testing: Develop and execute automated performance, load, and security tests to identify bottlenecks, vulnerabilities, and ensure optimal application behavior for Java services and React UIs under various conditions.
• Team Mentorship & Guidance: Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to a team of automation QA engineers, fostering their technical growth, problem‑solving skills, and adherence to best practices.
• Test Data Management: Implement effective strategies for synthetic test data generation and management to support diverse and comprehensive testing scenarios across Oracle databases and React UI components.
• Reporting & Analytics: Establish and maintain robust reporting mechanisms for test execution results, defect trends, and quality metrics, providing actionable insights to project teams and stakeholders.
• Manages multiple IT Quality teams or an IT Quality functional area (depending on size of business).
• Resolves complex and highly variable issues.
• Develops and designs standards and procedures; ensures that they are adhered to throughout the software development life cycle.
• Manages organizational process change.
• Ensures consistency and quality of processes across the organization.
• Exhibits in-depth understanding of concepts and procedures within own area and basic knowledge of these elements in other areas.
• Requires in-depth understanding of how own area integrates within IT Quality and has basic commercial awareness.
• Uses evaluative judgment in complicated or novel situations; uses multiple sources of information.
• Impacts IT Quality through delivery of end results and contribution to planning, finances/budget and formulation of policies.
• Collaborates with local and global stakeholders like QA team, production support team, environment management team, DBA team, etc. to ensure project stability and productivity.
• Responsible for handling day‑to‑day staff management issues, including resource management and allocation of work within the team/project.
• Performs other duties and functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: 12+ of experience in Quality Assurance and Test Automation, with a significant portion dedicated to designing, developing, and leading automation solutions for complex enterprise applications built on Java, React, and Oracle.
• Core Programming Language: Proficient in Java for writing automation scripts, developing custom frameworks, and understanding the application under test.
• UI Automation: Deep expertise in developing and maintaining robust UI test automation frameworks using tools such as Selenium, with proven experience testing React‑based applications.
• API Automation: Comprehensive experience with API testing frameworks such as RestAssured and/or Karate DSL for Java‑based microservices.
• Behavior‑Driven Development (BDD): Proven ability to implement BDD frameworks, with mandatory hands‑on experience using Cucumber for defining and executing features and scenarios.
• Performance Testing: Good to have experience designing and executing performance, load, and stress tests using tools such as JMeter and/or LoadRunner.
• CI/CD Integration: Mandatory experience integrating automated tests into Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using platforms like Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, and/or GitHub Actions.
• Cloud Environments: Good to have exposure testing applications deployed on major cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and/or GCP.
• Database Testing: Strong SQL skills for database validation and data integrity testing, with specific experience testing Oracle databases.
• Version Control: Expert proficiency with Git (e.g., GitHub, Bitbucket, GitLab) for collaborative code management.
• Test Management & Reporting: Experience with test case management tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail, Xray) and generating comprehensive quality metrics and reports.
• Analytical & Problem‑Solving: Analytical, problem‑solving, and debugging skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
