Summary

The individual will be responsible for coordinating and implementing the design efforts of the engineering department to develop additional product lines and component designs to help grow the business. The role will require working with the engineering and sales teams to develop strategies of what new products to design and implement. The individual will also be required to continue improving existing drawings and documentation of the product lines offered today.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Product development and support
• Developing detailed project plans and coordinating design activities, of assigned projects.
• Assisting in quoting of special projects and modifications to standard products
• Coordination with suppliers to design, ensure manufacturability, confirm product specifications and drawings
• Creation of 2D drawings and 3D models
• Provide technical product expertise, calculations, and support to customers and sales team.
• Analyzing various application topics and providing solutions
• Communicating with staff, directors, and clients to provide project input and updates
• Collaboration with Mechanical Design Team to achieve project deliverables
• Creation/administration of ISO 9001:2015 documentation

Travel requirements: 5-10% with potential overseas travel/supplier visits

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

• 5-10 years of experience with a minimum of 5 years in the bearing & power transmission field
• Self-starter with experience in leading a design team and coordinating the efforts of others.
• Proficiency in 2D drawing software (AutoCAD/ Draftsight), and 3D modeling software (Preferably SolidWorks) desired.
• Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) implementation experience.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

• 4-year engineering degree (Strong preference for BS Mechanical Engineering). Similar degree(s) and/or qualifying experience will be considered.

Language Skills

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before customers or employees of organization.
• In addition to English the ability to read and/or write any of the following would be preferred but not required: Mandarin, Spanish, or German

Mathematical Skills

Ability to perform engineering calculations such as: moment analysis on 2D systems, thermal expansion, bearing life calculations, as well as other standard engineering calculations.

Reasoning Ability

• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands

Will be required to sit for extended periods of time, will be required to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally while examining parts.
