Job summary

Saronic Technologies is seeking an IT Support Specialist to maintain manufacturing systems and OT on-site in Austin. You will provide frontline and escalated support for Zebra printers, barcode scanners, shop-floor workstations, network connectivity, and connected IoT devices.

The role requires 3+ years in manufacturing IT, strong troubleshooting, and the ability to explain issues clearly to non-technical users.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in computer science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3+ years of IT experience supporting manufacturing technology or similar role.
• Proficiency troubleshooting hardware, software, and networking issues.
• Excellent communication and customer service, able to explain tech to non-technical users.
• Strong problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Provide frontline and escalated support for manufacturing systems and OT, including Zebra printers and IoT devices.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues impacting production with urgency.
• Act as primary responder for manufacturing system incidents and coordinate cross-functional resolution.
• Support data tasks and production workflows (basic SQL, Splunk; Python a plus).
• Coordinate IT support with broader IT team and maintain knowledge base docs.
• Maintain knowledge base articles and support documentation.

Job Overview

Responsibilities

• Provide frontline and escalated support for manufacturing systems and operational technology, including Zebra printers (ZPL configuration and troubleshooting), barcode scanners, production-floor workstations and displays, shop-floor networking, and connected IoT devices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, application, and network issues impacting production, with urgency and precision to minimize downtime.
• Act as a primary responder for manufacturing system incidents and coordinate cross-functional resolution efforts when necessary.
• Support data-related tasks and production workflows, including basic query troubleshooting (SQL, Splunk; Python is a plus).
• Coordinate IT support with the broader IT team.
• Maintain knowledge base articles and support documentation for supported systems and processes.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in computer science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3+ years of IT experience supporting manufacturing technology, or a similar role.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware, software, and networking issues.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users.
• Strong problem-solving mindset, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with manufacturing systems (MES, PLCs, SCADA).
• Experience with industrial label printers (Zebra, ZPL, BarTender, etc.).
• Experience supporting production environments or shop-floor systems.

Physical Demands

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Occasional standing and walking within the office
• Manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment
• Visual acuity to read screens, documents, and reports
• Occasional reaching, bending, or stooping to access file drawers, cabinets, or office supplies
• Lifting and carrying items up to 20 pounds occasionally (e.g., office supplies, packages)
