Job summary

Kyndryl is looking for an IT Platform Engineer to drive data platform initiatives in a cloud-first setting. You will design and implement robust software in Python, applying SOLID principles and partnering with product owners and IT teams to align technical work with business goals.

You'll build and maintain scalable data platforms on Azure, use Terraform for IaC, and contribute to DevOps, CI/CD, and automated testing with Pytest. Strong communication and mentoring are valued.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an IT Platform Engineer with a strong Python background.
• Experience with cloud services and Azure-focused data platforms.
• Hands-on with Terraform or similar IaC tools and automation.
• Experience applying SOLID, design patterns and testing pyramids (Pytest).

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, and deliver robust, secure, and high-quality solutions in a cloud-based environment.
• Advocate and apply best practices in software engineering, including SOLID principles, design patterns, and domain-driven design (DDD).
• Partner with Product Owners, Architects, and IT stakeholders to align technical strategy with business objectives.
• Work with the engineering team in building and maintaining scalable data platforms in Azure.
• Implement DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines to accelerate delivery.
• Ensure code quality through automated testing frameworks (e.g., pytest, mocking).
• Support and mentor team members, fostering a culture of ownership, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Who You Are

We are looking for a colleague with proven experience as a IT Platform Engineer with a proficiency in Object Oriented programming languages (e.g. Python). You'll be engaged in all aspects of reliable software development: from planning/design stage, hands-on development and testing to automated deployment. We are also looking for someone with the following profile:

Required Technical Skills

• Strong experience in object-oriented programming, analysis, and design (Python preferred).
• Proven expertise with Cloud services (using SDK, Terraform, Databricks - Azure preferred).
• Experience with Unity Catalog is a plus.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform) is a plus.
• Strong understanding of the incremental software development cycle, DevOps, and CI/CD.
• Application of SOLID principles and design patterns.
• Familiarity with writing layer tests/testing pyramid (Pytest is a plus)

Soft Skills

• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Analytical thinker and effective problem solver.
• Strong sense of ownership and accountability.
• Ability to mentor and support team members
