Job summary

BMW Manufacturing is seeking an entry-level IT Security specialist to coordinate IT solutions for production systems in Upstate South Carolina. You will plan, test, install, and maintain software, defend devices against malware, and patch systems on a scheduled cadence.

The role involves implementing secure architectures, ensuring availability, backups, and KPI support for software licensing and network performance, with opportunities to contribute across multiple projects.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in STEM or Business; or 4 years of software development experience.
• 1+ years of IT or Systems Management experience, preferably in manufacturing.
• 1+ years of programming in Python, SQL, PL-SQL, or Apex.
• 1+ years of knowledge of system architecture: OS, AD, Group Policy, networks, databases, data communications.
• 1+ years of networking and storage management; MS Office skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with controls team for planning, testing, and maintenance of production systems.
• Provide expertise for installation and maintenance of software.
• Ensure production devices are protected by malware protection and patches.
• Test, plan, communicate, and apply patches on a defined schedule.
• Work with IT to implement security measures against cyber threats for production devices.
• Collaborate with Planning and IT to ensure standards and norms are followed.

Description:

• Coordinates and communicates with the controls team planning, testing, setup, and maintenance of new and existing production systems while ensuring no negative impacts to running production.
• Provides expertise for installation and maintaining software.
• Supports team to ensure all production devices are protected by latest
  group malware and virus protection software and patches are implemented.
• Tests, plans, communicates, and provides patching application to devices
  on a defined schedule.
• Works with specialists to implement measures to protect against
  malicious cyber security threats for network connected production
  devices/systems.
• Works closely with Planning and IT departments to ensure adherence to
  established standards and norms.
• Adheres to BMW Groups IT Process Quality Management (ITPM) methodology
  in performing all tasks.
• Supports the central task force organization targets and goals for
  protection against malicious threats to network connected production
  devices/systems.
• Analyzes and defines requirements, tests and implements IT
  solutions according to BMW Group's IT Process Quality Management (ITPM)
  methodology.
• Coordinates with project planners, CERT, central Task Force organization
  and IT for the installation or removal of network required by project
  work.
• Works continuously to identify opportunities to apply new and existing
  technology to business processes.
• Works with business key users to define technology needs, understand costs, business benefits and implementation requirements.
• Documents and maintains complete device registry for the department.
• Establishes and maintains technical security architecture, availability, overall performance and maintenance activities.
• Ensures system availability, redundancy, backups and recoverability (installations, upgrades, patches, business copies, preventative.
• Supports all related KPI for software licensing, malware protection,
  risk avoidance, network performance, etc. for production systems.
• Supports multiple projects simultaneously including investment, budget, new product planning, development and implementation of system solutions.
• Provides expertise to coordinate change management through communication
  of project plans, status updates, including milestone variance to management.
• Administers and/or participates in group network meetings and Change
  Control Boards with business users and IT associates for information
  exchange and benchmarking activities.
• Develops system interface scripts to automate administrative tasks and
  facilitate data movement.
• Understands and models VPS (Value Added Production System) Principles and concepts of Standard Work and Problem Solving.
• Adheres to 5S and Safety Standards and Principles.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

• BA/BS Degree in STEM or Business Administration, OR the equivalent of 4
  years of software development experience, preferably in an
  automotive/manufacturing environment. MS Degree preferred.
• 1+ years of experience in IT or Systems Management (preferably in a manufacturing environment)
• 1+ years of experience with programming languages (python, SQL, Pl-SQL, Apex preferred).
• 1+ years of knowledge of system architecture; Operating Systems, Active directories,
  Group policies, Networks, Databases, Internet Technologies, & Data communication.
• 1+ years of knowledge of networking and storage management.1+ years MS office skills to include Word, PowerPoint as proven through
  business application.
