Job description

Within Schneider Electric (SE), the ELECTRA program is a strategic joint initiative from the Power Products and Power Systems Divisions. Its objective is to accelerate sales growth and foster innovation across several high-potential segments, including the New Energy Landscape, Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, Mining, Metals, Hyperscale Data Centers, Commercial & Industrial Buildings, Marine & Ports, Semiconductor Fabs, and Mobility.

Your role:

The candidate will serve as an IT/OT Convergence Expert (Senior Solutions Architect is the term we use internally) driving the convergence of power distribution and communication network infrastructures in next-generation buildings. Reporting to the Global Cluster Leader, the candidate will be part of a global team of technical experts responsible for driving innovation, thought leadership, and strategic technical direction across internal organizations (Strategy, Innovation, R&D, Marketing) and external stakeholders (Design Consultants, System Integrators, Panel Builders, End Users, and Technology Partners).

The primary mission is to advance Schneider Electric’s leadership in IT/OT convergence by defining future‑ready building architectures where power distribution and communication networks operate as an integrated ecosystem rather than independent systems. The role will focus on technologies such as Power over Ethernet (PoE), Fault Managed Power Systems (FMPS), Single Pair Ethernet (SPE), smart building platforms, edge computing, IoT connectivity, and digital infrastructure solutions that enable intelligent, connected, and sustainable buildings.

Your missions:

In close collaboration with Innovation, R&D, Strategy, and Segment Leaders, the Technical Expert will:

  • Lead and support strategic initiatives related to the convergence of power distribution and communication network infrastructures in commercial and industrial buildings.
  • Develop next‑generation building architectures integrating electrical distribution, communication networks, building automation, IoT devices, and distributed energy resources.
  • Establish technical leadership in emerging technologies such as PoE, FMPS, SPE, smart building networks, wireless communication systems, and edge‑enabled building applications.
  • Create high‑value technical content including reference architectures, design guides, white papers, webinars, and conference presentations to promote Schneider Electric solutions and thought leadership.
  • Engage in strategic customer and partner discussions to identify emerging market needs and translate them into innovative power and communication infrastructure solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal business units to identify new opportunities for integrating communication technologies into Schneider Electric’s electrical distribution portfolio.
  • Monitor evolving standards, technologies, and market trends related to digital buildings, IT/OT convergence, and intelligent infrastructure systems.
  • Support internal capability development by increasing organizational understanding of modern IT and OT architectures and their integration with electrical systems.

This role is based in the USA and may require up to 20% international travel.

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer engineering, Information Technology, Telecommunications Engineering, Network Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in several of the following domains:
  • Enterprise networking and network architecture
  • Building communication networks
  • Smart buildings and IoT platforms
  • Building Management Systems (BMS)
  • Operational Technology (OT) networks
  • Power over Ethernet (PoE)
  • Fault Managed Power Systems (FMPS)
  • Edge computing and connected devices
  • Digital infrastructure and intelligent building solutions
  • Basic understanding of low‑voltage electrical distribution systems and Extra‑Low Voltage (ELV) applications.
  • Experience working with consultants, system integrators, contractors, technology providers, and building owners.
  • Experience influencing technical standards, reference architectures, or industry best practices is highly valuable.
Your skills:

The Technical Expert will contribute to the development of integrated power and communication infrastructures for next‑generation buildings. Consequently, you will be able to:

  • Design and evaluate enterprise and building communication network architectures.
  • Understand and apply communication protocols, Ethernet technologies, IP networking, and wireless communication systems.
  • Develop integrated IT/OT architectures for smart and connected buildings.
  • Apply expertise in PoE, FMPS, structured cabling, and digital building infrastructure.
  • Understand building automation systems, IoT ecosystems, and edge computing platforms.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of LV and ELV electrical systems and power delivery technologies.
  • Support the development of converged power and communication architectures for intelligent building applications.
  • Create technical content (white papers, reference designs, and application notes) and deliver customer workshops, webinars, and technical seminars.
  • Engage effectively with customers, consultants, technology partners, and industry associations to drive market adoption and thought leadership.
