Job summary

Office Hours is hiring our first dedicated IT Operations Lead to own systems, devices, and access company-wide. This hands-on role covers end-user support, device fleet management, SaaS and identity administration, and security alignment with Legal and Compliance.

You will set priorities, build processes, and own the infrastructure as the company scales across SF, NY, and remote teams. The role requires 5–8 years in IT ops, strong autonomy, and expertise with Google Workspace, Okta, and Mac

• 5–8 years in IT operations or systems administration, ideally at a startup with in-person and remote employees.
• Experience as the sole or first IT hire, or equivalent autonomy.
• Fluent, daily use of AI tools and ability to teach others.

Responsibilities

• Manage device procurement, deployment, and lifecycle for a distributed Mac fleet.
• Administer identity provider and SSO, perform access reviews.
• Oversee SaaS stack, vendor relationships, licensing, and cost control; manage AI tools.

• Handle onboarding/offboarding: hardware setup, provisioning, deactivation, asset recovery.

About the role

We're hiring our first dedicated IT Operations Lead to own the systems, devices, and access that everyone at Office Hours relies on. This is a hands-on role covering the full IT surface: end user support, device and fleet management, SaaS and identity administration, office infrastructure, and the technical side of onboarding and off-boarding. You'll also configure access and tooling to align with our security requirements, working closely with Legal and Compliance..This is a role built for independence. You'll be the first person in this seat, which means you'll set your own priorities, build the processes as you go, and be the person the company relies on to keep everything running.You'll join a company of roughly 60 people across San Francisco, New York, and remote, with a growing tool stack and infrastructure that needs a real owner.

What you’ll do

• End user support. Serve as the first point of contact for IT and systems questions across the company. Triage and resolve hardware, software, and access issues, and build the documentation and guidance that helps people self-serve over time, including on how to get real value out of our AI tools.
• Device and fleet management. Own hardware procurement, deployment, and lifecycle tracking. Manage MDM enrollment and configuration across a distributed Mac fleet, along with inventory and budget.
• Identity and access management. Administer our identity provider and SSO, manage role-based access across systems, and run regular access reviews.
• SaaS and vendor management. Administer our tool stack, evaluate and implement new tools, and manage vendor relationships, contracts, renewals, licenses, and seat allocation. Identify consolidation opportunities and reduce redundant spend. Our AI stack sits inside this scope, so expect to administer it and have a view on what we should be using.
• Office infrastructure. Maintain network and connectivity, printers and peripherals, and conference room and all-hands AV across our San Francisco and New York offices.
• Onboarding and offboarding execution. Own the technical side of both: hardware setup, account and license provisioning, and access requests for new hires, then account deactivation, access revocation, asset recovery, license reclamation, and data retention for departures.
• Security operations. Implement and maintain security configurations across our systems, support remediation work, and partner with our security owners to keep access and tooling aligned with our requirements.
• Process and documentation. Build the runbooks, workflows, and automation that make this function scalable as the company grows.
• AI tooling and enablement. Own administration of our AI tool stack, including access, licensing, and usage visibility. Help people across the company actually use these tools well through documentation, training, and hands‑on support. Bring a clear point of view to evaluations of new AI tools, and advise leadership on adoption, cost, and appropriate use.

What you bring

• 5 to 8 years in IT operations or systems administration, ideally at a startup with in-person and remote employees.
• Experience as the sole or first IT hire, or equivalent experience operating with a high degree of autonomy.
• Fluent, daily use of AI tools in your own work, real opinions about what works and what doesn't, and a knack for teaching others, not just fixing their problems.
• Strong hands‑on administration of Google Workspace, an identity provider such as Okta, and Mac fleet management through an MDM.
• Demonstrated ownership of a modern SaaS stack, including access management, licensing, and cost control.
• Sound judgement about what you handle independently and what you es?

• Experience configuring security controls against an established framework.
• Multi-site network and AV setup.

Bonus Experience

• Direct experience driving AI adoption across a non-technical population, or advising leadership on AI tooling decisions.

Pay Transparency Notice

Full-time offers include base salary, equity, and benefits.

Pay range: $110-$140k, based on seniority and relevant experience, plus a discretionary performance bonus.

This is a hybrid role, in our San Francisco office 2-3 times per week.
