Commonwealth of VA Careers seeks an Information Technology Manager for the Department of Forensic Science to lead the agency's IT operations and assets, ensuring security, governance, and strategic alignment with objectives. The role oversees complex technology environments, enforces VITA standards, and guides IT initiatives at DFS.

• Comprehensive knowledge of data management principles, information technology methods, and modern technology solutions.
• Knowledge of VITA standards, policies, and governance requirements.
• Extensive knowledge of information security practices, application systems development, systems engineering, computer operations, database management, telecommunications, and web‑based technologies.
• Knowledge of office automation systems and end‑user support services.
• Considerable knowledge of effective management practices, state laws, policies, and procedures related to the acquisition, operation, maintenance, and security of information technology systems.
• Knowledge of Microsoft products, preferably Microsoft Office and Windows Desktop OS & Server OS.
• Significant experience in systems engineering or systems analysis.
• Ability to develop and implement technology strategies that support organizational objectives.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to executive leadership, staff, and external stakeholders.
• Eligible to possess a valid driver’s license or have other means of reliable transportation.
• Must be able to successfully pass a background investigation.

Responsabilidades

• Provide strategic leadership, management, and oversight of the agency's IT operations and assets.
• Plan, direct, and maintain the agency's technology environment to support mission and objectives.
• Oversee IT governance, information security programs, and compliance with VITA standards.
• Manage technology initiatives and ensure effective IT service delivery across DFS.
• Occasional overnight travel may be required and transportation is the employee's responsibility.
