Today, we are creating the technology to increase tunneling speed and decrease costs by a factor of 10 or more with the ultimate goal of making Hyperloop adoption viable and enabling rapid transit across densely populated regions.

As the IT Manager in Nashville, you will own IT operations and infrastructure for the site, leading everything from system and network deployment to troubleshooting (often inside the tunnel), workstation, VOIP, network and helpdesk/end-user support in a rapidly advancing site environment. You will manage the site IT team while remaining highly hands-on, ensuring reliable IT infrastructure and support across construction, tunnel, and surface operations.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, design, deploy and manage construction and tunnel network, server, and end-user equipment.
  • Manage and develop the site IT staff, providing technical direction and prioritizing day-to-day IT activities (including low voltage work)
  • Own IT operations and infrastructure for the Nashville site, ensuring systems are reliable, secure, and able to support rapidly evolving operational requirements.
  • Discover end-user and business needs, implement innovative solutions, and adapt as requirements evolve.
  • Oversee and provide end-user support for O365, Gsuite, VMS, Windows, Ubuntu, printers, and network appliances.
  • Manage device inventory, provisioning, access, and onboarding for new users.
  • Lead the deployment and maintenance of network infrastructure across tunnels and surface sites.
  • Oversee and perform rack/stack of servers, switches, firewalls, network equipment, and cameras.
  • Run/terminate cabling where needed.
  • Troubleshoot complex network and systems issues in a rugged construction environment.
  • Maintain infrastructure supporting TBM operations.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware failures in the field.
  • Identify opportunities to improve IT systems, processes, reliability, security, and scalability as the Nashville operation grows.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or equivalent work experience.
  • 7+ yrs experience in Systems Administration, IT Infrastructure, IT Operations, or similar roles.
  • Experience leading IT operations, projects, or technical teams.
  • Proven experience in site-based work (i.e. in the field, troubleshooting on the ground).
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Ability to lead through a rapidly changing set of requirements and schedules.
  • Experience building and maintaining network, OS, printing, and application support in a small/medium sized business.
  • Experience designing and scaling IT infrastructure in a growing operational environment.
  • Experience managing or mentoring Systems Administrators or other IT professionals.
  • Experience automating repetitive tasks.
  • Comfortable with occasional physical work, including carrying servers and network equipment.
  • Familiarity with disk imaging and software deployment tools.
  • Strong working knowledge of common cloud services: O365, Gsuite.
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory and DNS management.
  • Strong networking and systems troubleshooting experience.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a practical solutions-based approach.
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to work long hours and weekends as necessary.
  • Willingness to remain hands-on and work alongside the team when required.
  • OK with confined spaces (occasionally entering the tunnels).
