Exacta Systems, part of the Churchill Downs family, is redefining the future of gaming with cutting‑edge historical horse racing technology. We are located in Austin, TX and are looking for a seasoned IT Infrastructure and Systems Engineer.

Job Summary: Seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure and Systems Engineer specialized in Linux (Ubuntu), server virtualization, and remote network management. The role is highly technical and involves configuring infrastructure, troubleshooting complex issues, and implementing new technology. The position is based in our Austin HQ and requires occasional travel for installations and upgrades.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities:

• Linux (Ubuntu) Administration – Install, configure, and maintain Ubuntu-based servers, ensuring security and performance. Experience with other distributions is also valued.
• Server Virtualization – Manage and maintain virtualized environments, including provisioning and optimizing VM resources.
• Network & Server Management – Monitor, troubleshoot, and configure servers, NAS systems, and network devices remotely.
• Device Configuration – Create, modify, and deploy device configurations across various networking and IT systems.
• Technical Exploration – Analyze new technologies, test them, document findings, and provide recommendations.
• International & Domestic Travel – Be available for travel, including short-notice trips (12–24 hours) and occasional longer assignments.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of hands‑on experience in system and network administration.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills in complex IT environments.
• Experience with remote infrastructure management and network security best practices.
• Ability to independently research, test, and document new technologies.
• Ready to provide escalation support via a ticketing system.
• Willingness to travel nationally and internationally on short notice (rarely, 12–24 hours) and for longer assignments.

• Fortinet Firewalls – Configuration and management.
• AWS/Azure Cloud Services – Infrastructure setup and maintenance.
• Docker – Deploying, maintaining, automated updates, and deployments.
• Ansible – Automation for IT infrastructure.
• SSO & Authentication Systems – SAML, RADIUS, OIDC (Okta).
• DNS – Managing public & private DNS infrastructures.
• GitHub & VSCode – Version control and basic scripting.
• Wireshark – Network packet analysis.
• LogicMonitor – Infrastructure monitoring and custom sensor creation.
• Zero Trust Security – Implementation and best practices.
