Job summary

SpaceX is seeking an experienced Manager, IT Infrastructure (Storage, Compute & Virtualization) to lead and scale enterprise compute, virtualization, and storage platforms in a hands‑on management role. You will coach a world‑class team, drive automation, and partner with network, facilities, security, and app teams to ensure reliable, scalable infrastructure for engineering and production workloads.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline and 5+ years hands‑on experience in two or more of: server/compute infra design, virtualization, storage; OR 8+ years in infra design, virtualization, storage in lieu of a degree.
• 5+ years of experience leading and managing technical IT teams.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture, lifecycle, and day‑to‑day operation of compute, virtualization, and storage platforms.
• Lead a team of engineers and administrators who design, build, and operate hypervisor clusters, servers, and storage systems.
• Drive capacity planning, performance engineering, and standards to stay ahead of demand.
• Design, implement, and report on HA, backup, replication, and DR for VMs and storage.
• Mentor engineers in designing and supporting high‑performance, resilient systems.
• Establish standards for servers, hypervisors, and storage; manage orders and vendor pricing.
• Drive automation of provisioning, patching, and operational tasks via templates and IaC.
• Collaborate with network, facilities, security, and applications teams on connectivity and workload placement.
• Schedule off‑peak or weekend maintenance when needed to upgrade systems.
• Interact with internal business units to provide proactive solutions.
