Job summary

Sprout in Garland, Texas is seeking an ITAD/electronics recycling technician to sort, test, and de-manufacture equipment. You will maintain records, perform data erasure per standards (NIST 800-88/ISO 27001), and ensure safe inventory control in a warehouse setting.

The role requires at least 2 years in ITAD or related fields, familiarity with testing tools, and a high school diploma. Lean training and IT certifications are a plus, with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of professional experience in IT Asset Disposition (ITAD), electronics recycling, or a related field.
• Familiarity with testing tools and diagnostic software for electronic equipment is required.
• IT certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sort and evaluate electronic equipment (CPUs, GPUs, RAM, HDDs, SSDs, mobile devices).
• Maintain accurate records of materials using scan guns and manual entry systems.
• Conduct thorough testing of electronic components and sub-assemblies.
• Perform data erasure following standardized protocols, ensuring 0 data escapes.
• Disassemble (harvest) electronic equipment into components per guidelines.
• Ensure precise inventory tracking and management within the workspace.
• Maintain a clean, hazard-free working environment and adhere to safety protocols.
• Coordinate with team members for smooth workflow transitions.

Qualifications

Experience

• At least 2 years of professional experience in IT Asset Disposition (ITAD), electronics recycling, or a related field.
• Familiarity with testing tools and diagnostic software for electronic equipment is required.

Knowledge & Skills:

• Knowledge of IT hardware components, including CPUs, memory, and storage devices.
• Understanding of data erasure standards and practices (e.g., NIST 800-88, ISO 27001).
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in using inventory management software.
• Basic arithmetic and data entry proficiency (40 WPM typing speed).
• Experience working with a variety of relevant tools (multimeter, soldering iron, wire cutters, precision tools, tweezers, ESD wrist straps, etc.).

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for the duration of an 8-hour shift.
• Willingness to work in non-climate-controlled warehouse environments.
• Flexibility to work overtime, including weekends when required.

Education & Certifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• IT certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar) are preferred.
• Training or certification in Lean is highly desirable.
