Job summary

Geeks on Site is hiring on-call IT Field Technicians to support residential and small business customers across multiple U.S. cities. The role is an independent contractor (1099) with flexible scheduling and no guaranteed hours.

Expect on-site computer repair, IT support, printer configuration and light AV tasks, with opportunities for POS and outdoor TV mounting. You’ll set availability, travel within your radius, and receive jobs matching proximity and skills.

Qualifications

Two or more years of IT field service or on-site support experience.
Strong networking and diagnostic skills.
Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license.
Ability to work independently with professional customer service.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and carry tools to job sites.
Own required tools including laptop, drill, screwdrivers, cable tester and RJ45 tools.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot and repair Windows and macOS issues on-site.
Resolve WiFi, router and wired network problems.
Install and configure printers and scanners.
Replace or upgrade hardware components as needed.
Reinstall operating systems using bootable tools.
Document work and communicate clearly with customers.
Install and support POS systems and run Cat5e/Cat6 cabling.
Perform outdoor TV mounting and basic AV setup.

Technicians may also receive POS or outdoor TV mounting jobs based on experience.
