Job Description

Description: We need an IT DevOps Support Manager for our client in Richardson, TX.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing assistance, direction and leadership to a team of 8-12 Network Operations Support Agents.

The DevOps Support manager will utilize exceptional leadership skills and technical acumen to enhance all aspects of Operational Support and delivery of excellence.

The manager will be expected to be capable of understanding all areas of the OSS/BSS Stack.

  • Providing leadership in the way the OSS Application is maintained and operated.
  • Providing leadership the way the OSS Application is tested and documented.
  • Providing leadership in current status of Network / System Issues and resolution path.
  • Assisting the development team with complex problems.
  • Assisting with maintaining the documents provided and created by the OSS Engineering teams.
  • Interfacing with the project management organization, groups within Frontier and external partners.
  • Oversee Linux/Unix based script creation to assist with automation.
  • Ensure all SQL queries and scripts used by the Operations team are documented and retained in a data source repository such as TFS.
  • Design and implement a knowledge base for Network Provisioning related to the OSS Systems for the different customer-facing Operations teams.
  • Assist with UAT and monthly System Releases.
  • Working with legacy applications.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Education and/or Experience
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in computer or information technology and five (5) years’ experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience with leading a team with SQL/Linux/Unix development.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in computer or information technology and five (5) years’ experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience as a software developer along with three (3) years' experience as a team or project lead role.
  • Deep understanding of Unix Systems with OSS Systems focus (Samba, Bash, Python).
  • Deep understanding of Microsoft SQL server development and consumption.
  • Basic to intermediate understanding of object oriented programming.
  • Client side web technologies.
  • Basic experience working around C#.
  • Experience with using Team Foundation Server.
  • Experience writing documentation.
  • Experience with SQL reporting.
  • Experience with System deployments.
  • Telecommunications background.
  • Previous work with Unix Systems and SQL Development.
  • Previous work as a project manager.
Qualifications
  • Ability to lead a team of people.
  • Ability to teach experienced engineers different methodologies.
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers.
  • Ability to work within a team of people.
  • Ability to communicate succinctly in writing and orally with upper management, developers, project managers, and other parts of the business.
  • Ability to participate in the shaping of the team's focus and vision.
  • Special Concerns: Some travel may be required to coordinate with teams across the country.
  • Complexity of Work & Decision-making Responsibility: Diverse, non-routine duties requiring the exercise of judgment to determine action to be taken to resolve individual problems, within standard practice.
