IT Desktop Support Technician

We are looking for a motivated IT Desktop Support Technician to join the TEKsystems client team in Lansing, MI. The role is a first shift, contract‑to‑hire opportunity that will allow you to build a long‑term career in IT support.

Overview

As a Desktop Support Technician you will diagnose and resolve software and hardware incidents for end users, deploy Windows 10/11 and Windows 11 machines, re‑image devices, and maintain a high level of customer service on the client’s IT service desk. You will work closely with the client’s IT department and other support teams to ensure reliable, first‑class support for the end‑user community.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and resolve software and hardware incidents, including operating systems (Windows and Mac) and a range of software applications.
  • Swap out laptops/desktops, deploy Windows 10/11, and re‑image Windows 11 machines from Windows 10.
  • Assist users with logged IT incidents, escalating to other support teams when necessary.
  • Record, update and document requests using the IT service desk system.
  • Install, configure and upgrade new IT equipment, software and printers, copiers, and scanners.
  • Maintain a first‑class level of customer service, treating all customers efficiently and appropriately.
Qualifications
  • Previous helpdesk or desktop support or PC technician experience is preferred.
  • CompTIA A+ or equivalent IT certification is desirable.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Self‑directed, team‑player with a willingness to learn and grow.
