Qualifications

• 4 years of experience in data governance, data quality, or metadata management in financial services or regulated industries.
• Proven experience building or operating a data governance framework.
• Hands-on with data governance and cataloging tools (Collibra, Alation, Informatica, Purview).
• Strong data quality practices: profiling, rules, monitoring, issue management.
• Experience with data classification and regulatory/audit requirements (SOX, GLBA, BCBS 239).
• Working SQL to profile and validate data.
• Excellent communication across business, IT, security, compliance.
• Preferred: DAMA CDMP or similar certs.

Job description

JCW is partnering with a leading financial services company in the Dallas-Fort Worth area to hire an IT Data Governance & Data Quality Manager. This is a hands-on opportunity to build and run the data governance practice that keeps the firm's critical data accurate, well-defined, and audit-ready. You will sit between IT, the business, Information Security, and Compliance, turning governance policy into day-to-day practice. This is a practitioner seat: not a pure architect role, and not a policy-only role, but someone who can define the standards and make them work in the tools.

What You'll Do

• Lead the firm's data governance program within IT, establishing and maintaining policies, standards, and operating procedures for data ownership, stewardship, and lifecycle management
• Design and run data quality management processes, including defining quality rules and thresholds, monitoring metrics and dashboards, and driving root-cause analysis and remediation of data issues
• Own metadata management across the enterprise, including the business glossary, data dictionary, data lineage, and critical data element (CDE) inventory
• Collaborate with business data owners to validate data definitions, confirm accountability, and align on quality expectations
• Partner with Information Security to classify sensitive data (e.g., PII, NPI, and financial data) and ensure classification labels and handling controls are applied consistently
• Work with Compliance and Internal Audit to ensure regulatory and audit requirements are met, including preparing evidence and supporting audit and examination requests
• Implement and administer data governance and catalog tooling, and promote adoption across technology and business teams
• Report on governance maturity, data quality trends, and remediation progress to senior leadership and governance committees
• Manage processes and priorities across teams, influencing without direct authority

What We're Looking For

• 4 years of experience in data governance, data quality, or metadata management, ideally within financial services or another regulated industry
• Proven experience building or operating a data governance framework, not just participating in one
• Hands-on experience with data governance and cataloging tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Informatica, Microsoft Purview, or similar)
• Strong working knowledge of data quality practices, including profiling, rule definition, monitoring, and issue management
• Experience with data classification and working knowledge of regulatory and audit requirements such as SOX, GLBA, and BCBS 239 (or comparable frameworks)
• Solid understanding of data lineage and metadata concepts, with working SQL skills to profile and validate data
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work with business data owners, Information Security, Compliance, and technical teams, and translate between them
• A self-starter who can manage competing priorities with limited oversight
• Preferred: DAMA CDMP or other data governance certifications
