Job summary

Naval Air Systems Command is seeking an IT Cybersecurity Specialist to support the Infrastructure Branch of the Operations Department. You will administer, monitor, and secure Windows Server and Red Hat environments, manage AD and GPOs, and perform vulnerability remediation in accordance with DoD RMF and DISA STIGs.

Strong problem solving and communication skills are essential for this on-site role in Lakehurst, NJ.

Qualifications

• Specialized IT experience at the DS-03 (GS-09/10) level or equivalent in the Federal service or private/public sector.
• Experience administering, configuring, monitoring, and maintaining Windows Server and RHEL environments.
• Experience managing user accounts, domain services, GPOs, NTFS permissions, and network storage access.
• Experience performing vulnerability scans, applying patches, and remediation per DoD standards (DISA STIGs, RMF).

Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, monitor, and maintain Windows Server and Linux servers and virtual environments (VMware, Hyper‑V).
• Manage user accounts, domain services, GPOs, and NTFS permissions; control access to network storage.
• Execute system updates, software deployments, and automated patching; monitor performance and availability.
• Implement and maintain DoD security controls in RMF and DISA STIGs; maintain security documentation and ensure config compliance.

You will serve as an IT Cybersecurity Specialist (SYSADMIN) in the Infrastructure Branch of the Operations Department, Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Div LKE SE & ALRE Group of NAVAIRWARCENADLKE.

Qualifications: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the DS-03 (GS-09/10) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving performing duties such as: Administering, configuring, monitoring, and maintaining organizational operating systems (e.g., Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux) and physical/virtual server environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper‑V). Managing user accounts, domain services, group policies, NTFS file share permissions, and network storage access. Executing system updates, software deployments, and automated patching cycles while monitoring overall system performance, capacity, and availability.Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and resolving complex system-level operational, hardware, software, or cross-platform integration problems. Performing vulnerability scans, applying security patches, and executing remediation protocols to fix system weaknesses. Implementing and maintaining information-system security controls in compliance with DoD standards, such as DISA STIGs (Security Technical Implementation Guides) and the Risk Management Framework (RMF).
