Job description

The US Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) is hiring an IT Cybersecurity Specialist to lead customer experience strategy and execution within the DISA CUST EXP PORTFOLIO OFFICE (HC4). In this Expert Work Level role within the Cyber Excepted Service, you will serve as Chief of the Customer Experience (CX) Office while supporting mission needs tied to U.S. Cyber Command.

This is a national security position located in Montgomery, AL (onsite) with a salary range of USD 147,945 to 197,200 per year. The minimum experience requirement is 1 year, and appointment is contingent on meeting the position’s security and employment conditions.

Role Overview
  • Serves as Chief of the Customer Experience (CX) Office at Expert Work Level within the Cyber Excepted Service.
  • Establishes strategic direction for the customer experience office and aligns execution with the overarching vision.
  • Acts as the focal point for integrating customer experience initiatives and resolving operational conflicts in coordination with external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
  • Directs, mentors, and evaluates subordinate supervisors to ensure successful cross-functional execution.
  • Develops, defends, and reports a business case to demonstrate value and ensure return on investment.
  • Uses data analytics to generate insights and builds executive business cases for senior leadership.
  • Coordinates with external stakeholders to integrate initiatives and resolve operational conflicts.
Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service or be exempt.
  • Requires a favorable suitability review and a security clearance as a condition of employment; failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
  • Requires Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance.
  • Drug test designated position.
  • Must complete Foundational Qualifications in 9 months and Residential Qualification requirements overall in 12 months in line with the DoD 8140 policy series.
  • Submission of a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450.
  • Attention to Detail: experience reviewing your own information technology-related work or data and reviewing others’ work/data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards.
  • Customer Service: experience maintaining customer relationships, assessing customer IT needs, and developing or identifying IT products and services tailored to those needs.
  • Oral Communication: briefing mid-level management and IT staff on status of IT systems, projects, or daily operations, including communicating technical information to a non-technical audience.
  • Problem Solving: identifying alternatives for complex IT issues by gathering and applying information from multiple sources to generate potential solutions.

To qualify at the GG-15 level, the resume must describe at least one year of experience demonstrating the competencies necessary for immediate success. All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement, and there is no substitution of education for qualifying experience at the GG-15 grade level.

Cyber Excepted Service and Employment Conditions
  • Recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service; does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service.
  • Identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of US Cyber Command.
  • Position is in the Supervision/Management Work Category at the Expert Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure.
  • Excepted Service appointment: current Federal Career/Career-Conditional employees will be placed on an Excepted appointment.
  • A three year trial period may be required if you have not previously completed a trial or probationary period in the excepted or competitive service.
  • This position is subject to completion of a 1 year probationary period for assignment to a supervisory position.
  • Telework availability will be based upon mission requirements and supervisory determination.
  • Incumbent is required to report to work or relocate to a new duty location within the United States during times of local or national emergency because the role is Mission Essential.
  • Accepting the position may require serving a 3-year probationary period during which fitness and advancement of the public interest will be evaluated.
